It's my brothers birthday soon, and I want to buy him a bit of DJ kit so he can work smaples into his mixes. Which one should I get him?

It's his 21st, and as he DJs a bit, I thought I should get him something which takes samples (beats, vocal samples etc) and loops them either over whatever he's playing, or by itself while he mixes in something else.

I havn't a CLUE about DJ equipment, and so I'm not sure what I should get him. I don't want to get him something which he can't/won't use, and ideally it needs to be something which is pretty plug-and-play. I was having a look at the Cycloops bit of kit, but I'm not sure.

Anyone got any pointers? I'll see if I can get you an invite to his party!

What kind of music is he playing, and what is he looking for the gear to do?

A couple cool budget sampling drum machines are:

The Cycloops is quite cool and is used by X-Press 2 (wow, or something) and is pretty simple. If you want something cheap that he can get some milage out of I would look at the Yamaha SU-10 which can do some fun stuff. Check out: http://www.harmony-central.com/Synth/Data/Yamaha/SU-10-01.html
A couple of guys I know use these so they are not terrible!
Hope this helps
