The beat is perfect, the music suits her wonderfully and it's all around fantastic. She even makes fun of how she sings near the end.

Is there another song as carefree and wonderful as this one without being cloying?

no

I actually started that Janet Jackson POX the other day after hearing this in the grocery store. easily one of the better new songs thrown onto a greatest hits.

She's tried to duplicate the carefree perfection of this song with "Together Again," and she's almost hit the mark with the earlier "When I Think Of You"... but you're so right on! It doesn't get much better than this with Janet. :)

I was gonna say, but Maria beat me to it... Janet has tried this throughout her whole career, mostly with success. "When I Think Of You", "Escapade", "Together Again", and "Someone to Call My Lover" are all songs I think come close to same feeling (and IMO "Escapade" tops it).

Escapade!!! That was the one!!! :)

Yeah, I always thought this was a tired-in-comparison rewrite of "Escapade." And the giggles at the end always sounded staged.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Sunday, 25 May 2003 23:20 (twenty-two years ago)

OMG! That is so on the mark Anthony! Janet is the QUEEN of staged giggles... actually, that'd make a good thread. Artists who pepper their songs with staged giggles. :)

seven years pass...

And I just know we'll have a good time!

I heard this song today after having forgotten about it for years
and
I saw a saguaro flower for the first time in my life
so today was a pretty fucking dreamy day.

I always hear this in the grocery store for some reason.

this is, like, my favorite song

jho'sh? "ice cr?m" jackson (The Reverend), Thursday, 19 May 2011 07:45 (fourteen years ago)

This is surely a great song. Too bad it was drowned as a "Greatest Hits" extra and never got the status it deserved.

Hongroe (Geir Hongro), Thursday, 19 May 2011 10:31 (fourteen years ago)

It became a top five hit and got as much airplay as the other singles!

I could never figure out the title. I heard about 30 seconds of it on a TV spot for a local radio station and it was instantly my favorite song.

XP: I believe it sort of bombed here in Europe, but sure US #5 is not at all bad.
