A friend recently raved about how much he loves Akufen's "Skidoos". In a fairly drunken state, I told him that there's a lotta stuff in the similar vein, and vowed to make a compilation. And now that I'm about to finally make it, I'm having selector's block. So I need your suggestions (doesn't have to be strictly "microhouse"). Some of my ideas so far:

M.R.I. - To Be Honest
Decomposed Subsonic - Blaue Loewen
Luomo - Tessio
Massive Attack - Special Cases (Luomo rmx)

Kaito - Everlasting

Belter of a record Tim - one of me faves!

In answer to the original question, I've just done a "Twitches and Glitches" compilation CD for a lady I know who likes this kinda stuff. It's not all like Skidoos at all but it works up to being that way and is certainly coherent... you'll probably like a lot of it. Goes a little something like this:

Lungfuls Of Air - Wasteland - Transparent
Baroque - Sixtoo - Vertical Form
The Dream - Disflex 6 - Lex
Skunks - Manitoba - The Leaf Label
Grace (Schneider TM Mix) - Ruby - Wichita
Bernard's Song - Outputmesage - Ghostly International
Veselka's Diner - Dr Rockit - Lifelike
Turner - Head In Sky - Ladomat
(This Is) The Dream Of Evan & Chan (Superpitcher Kompakt Remix) - Dntel - Plug Research
Palo Alto - SND - Force Inc
Your Soul (Luomo Mix) - Dub Talor & Vital - Forcetracks

I think very little is better than 'Skidoos'.

I've attached it to scenes of London all too easily. Views from Beckton Alp or Horsenden Hill work just as well, as long as you can see planes drifting overhead and trains gliding along in the distance, lofty apartment blocks, church spires and valiant sunrays breaking through the late afternoon gloom. It must be those pads, so reminiscent of PSBs.

I still wonder if the vocal snippets are accidental or carefully constructed.

Wow, I almost revived this thread recently, to note that Andy Freer's "Super Galaxo" is quite a bit like (although ultimately not as good as) "Skidoos"

Actually my main memorial attachment to 'Skidoos' comes from having it stuck in my head on a train trip to the Essex coast (Leigh-On-Sea) about a year ago.

I'm listening to Skidoos for the first time in maybe a decade and it is still SO FUCKING GOOD.
