Just got accreditation for myself and my photographer today. Was just wondering if any other ILXers were going to be checking out the event.

what is it? can you link a site or something?

M Matos (M Matos), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 04:38 (twenty-two years ago)

It's the Canadian version of SXSW. Web site ici.

I went years ago. Would never go again, but that's mostly due to a hatred of Toronto.

fuck you

If you like the rock/roll, the loud nasty kind, check out Maximum RNR. They're playing and they're good. Real good live.
I only know that they're playing cuz I know them.

Doesn't look like a very exciting lineup this year, to me. Or maybe it's just a chance to see stuff I don't know about yet. Either way, I'm outta town that week, and will miss it. I wouldn't have minded seeing Steve Earle's talk, though.

pauls00, Tuesday, 27 May 2003 16:04 (twenty-two years ago)

I didn't think the lineup looked all that exciting either, but I'm unfamiliar with the bulk of the bands. I'm going down to document the experiences of a local band - it's their first "big" festival - so their performance is kind of my focus. It's also a chance to catch up with a few T.O. pals though.
I'll try to check out Maximum RNR, but they're playing the hour before my boys at a different club.

Bruce Urquhart (Bruce Urquhart), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 21:44 (twenty-two years ago)

I think its my first year in about five I dont have accreditation. I was so sickened by CMW though perhaps its a good thing.
I'll still probably pick a show or two to go to.

How can you go wrong with a name like "Millions of Cats That Turned On Their Masters", perfect for ILM.

And Moneen at the Velevet Underground = WTF?
Plus some good people from out east doing their best heavy metal salut in Iron Giant are just downt he street.

White Star Line are up at Rancho Relaxo on Friday. Good bar to be at near El Mo, Silver Dollar, Sneaky Dees.

Saturday is looking pretty sparse indeed (MRNR are following Salteens so I might have to stay away from that), but Thursday and Friday are more then acceptable as far as a festival goes.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 14:21 (twenty-two years ago)

From what I can remember, Class Assassins are a better-than-good punk band (if they're the same Class Assassins as the ones on TKO Records).

Jeanne Fury (Jeanne Fury), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 14:24 (twenty-two years ago)

It's the first time in a couple of years that I've went.
Last year, I had accreditation but something bigger came up which took precedence. It took so long to get accreditation this year, I though they were holding a grudge for last year's snub.
Have to be in the office Thursday, so I'm just going for the Friday/Saturday shows.

Bruce Urquhart (Bruce Urquhart), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 14:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Just curious if any T.O. ILMers are making any of the shows or seminars.
I've looked over the schedule and I think I'll make time for Tangiers, Cuff the Duke, the Hidden Cameras and the Matadors.

one year passes...
Anyone going this year? Anyone wanna turn FAP into a FACTSO (Fancy A Couch To Sleep On)?

alex in montreal, Monday, 7 March 2005 21:06 (twenty-one years ago)

three months pass...
I actually ended up going to this year's quasi-disappointing edition and actually saw that Millions of Cats band mentioned above. Fucking horrible. Perhaps the worst band I've ever had the displeasure of witnessing live.

BanjoMania (Brilhante), Monday, 13 June 2005 20:28 (twenty years ago)

It was an odd line-up this year. Great to see lots of unsigned, small label acts, but there wasn't a lot of drawing power. Marah, Daniel Lanois and Hugh Cornwell were probably the biggest attractions.

Brooker Buckingham (Brooker B), Monday, 13 June 2005 21:26 (twenty years ago)

eleven months pass...
Anyone else going this year?

Eazy (Eazy), Wednesday, 24 May 2006 22:12 (nineteen years ago)

I'm semi-involved with it, so I'll be around. The company I work for has sponsored/set up the Sat night gig at the Horseshoe. OK lineup, bar license (and bands) going until 4am (!)

I haven't had time to look through the full band list yet. Any hot tips?

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Wednesday, 24 May 2006 23:31 (nineteen years ago)

Despite Television's appearance, I opted not to apply for accreditation this year. I've got a busy few weeks, which kind of made three or four nights of debauchery kind of tough.

Binjominia (Brilhante), Thursday, 25 May 2006 00:08 (nineteen years ago)

Looking at the list, I'd recommend the Matadors, Hexes and Ohs and Novillero. The only band I've actually seen live are the Matadors, who are very entertaining. Theremin, go go dancers, coffins, etc.

Binjominia (Brilhante), Thursday, 25 May 2006 00:13 (nineteen years ago)

With a name like Bukkake Katholik how can they suck?

This years Cats Will Pee On Their Masters is: Cats Not Dogs.

The Old Soul and Raising The Fawn should be good.

Rufus 3000 (Mr Noodles), Thursday, 25 May 2006 12:27 (nineteen years ago)

Meh. It's too late for anyone I work for to write a preview, and since we're "all local, all the time" it's hard to scam on... I might go if I can convince the college paper to get accreditation, but I don't know a damn band on that list.

js (honestengine), Thursday, 25 May 2006 18:52 (nineteen years ago)

Raising The Fawn should be good.

Seconded. Saw them last weekend. Good stompin' music.

The Giant Mechanical Ant (The Giant Mechanical Ant), Thursday, 25 May 2006 19:38 (nineteen years ago)

ARCTIC is playing on Thursday the 8th, at Clinton's Tavern, 10:00pm. We'll also do a few other Southern Ontario shows before heading back to Vancouver. It'd be nice if you could come check us out!
