C90: Music for a six year old

So my brother Dylan, who is six, has asked me to make him a mix of "cool" music that I like. As of now his favorite bands/artists are: the Beatles (far and away), Tom Petty, Elvis, the White Stripes and ZZ Top. Yesterday I started working on a mix for him, trying to pick songs that are fun and bright. So far, the potential tracklisting is:

1. "Seven Nation Army," the White Stripes
2. "I'm Waiting for the Man," Velvet Underground
3. "Cut Your Hair," Pavement
4. "I've Got Money," James Brown
5. "Superstition," Stevie Wonder
6. "Angels Wanna Wear My Read Shoes," Elvis Costello
7. "School Days," Chuck Berry
8. "Strawberry Letter 23," Shuggie Otis
9. "Just Like Heaven," the Cure
10. "A Stroke of Genius," Freelance Hellraiser
11. "Hybrid Moments," Misfits
12. "Nothin' in the World Can Stop Me Worryin' 'bout That Girl," the Kinks
13. "Billie Jean," Michael Jackson
14. "Can't Seem to Make You Mine," the Seeds
15. "Cupid," Sam Cooke
16. "I Can't Explain," the Who
17. "Damaged Goods," Gang of Four
18. "Baby Baby," the Vibrators
19. "The Silvery Light of a Dream (Pt. 2)," Apples in Stereo

Dylan plays guitar and writes his own songs, but what he most likes in music are cool basslines (the low-end in "Come Together" is his fave musical moment evah) that he can dance to. He's too young for hip-hop, I decided, but I want some more suggestions. Nothing too out there, of course. I want songs that he'll be able to relate to on some level. Ideas?

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 15:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Rufus Thomas ("bear cat," "walkin' the dog" and its ilk) must be included. Your brother will also, like everyone else in the world, love "Jailbreak" by Thin Lizzy: "Ahhhhhhh...BREAKOUT!", followed by rockin' hand signals and/or air guitar, is my son's finest airband moment. (He's almost five.)

Neudonym, Tuesday, 27 May 2003 16:08 (twenty-two years ago)

he's possibly young enough to have not heard Ram Jam's "Black Betty" yet, plus it'll fit in well

James Blount (James Blount), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 16:10 (twenty-two years ago)

I like both of those suggestions! Thanks!

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 16:12 (twenty-two years ago)

"Yeah yeah" by Georgie Fame and the Blue Flames - I adored it when I was six (and sixties music was all I would listen to) and I see no reason why anyone else wouldn't.

Maybe "Dance to the underground" by Radio 4? Not just for the bassline, the percussion's pretty damn funky. (the single version rather than the album one - it's far and away the more danceable.)

I did this a little while ago, My son's mix tape. His current faves are;

Yello - The race
Busted - Year 3000
Avril Lavigne - Skater Boi
and Randy Newman - Great Nations of Europe.

Billy Dods (Billy Dods), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 18:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Actually, Fishbone's entire first album (with the exception of "Lyin' Ass Bitch" for obvious lyrical reasons...the last line of the song does just happen to go: "lying piece of sack of shit slut trashcan scum is dirtbag biiiiiiiitch!") is great for kids; ESPECIALLY "Ugly".

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 18:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Thanks for all these recommendations! I'm considering many of them...

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 18:15 (twenty-two years ago)

behold

James Blount (James Blount), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 18:19 (twenty-two years ago)

At some point I just started listing songs I heard while in elementary school (ie Led Zepplin, Prince, Rush, Devo, Steely Dan, George Clinton, RHCP, Fishbone) thanks to my dad and my older brothers. Following that trend, I'd also recommend The Time, Gap Band, James Brown, Skatemaster Tate, Suicidal Tendencies, Total Coelo, Adam and the Ants, Bow Wow Wow, the B-52s, Berlin, Thomas Dolby, early Madonna, Blue Oyster Cult, Kajagoogoo, AC/DC, and Men Without Hats.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 18:21 (twenty-two years ago)

my favorite thing about radio disney is that they were playing baha men way before anyone else was and they're playing baha men way after everyone else is

James Blount (James Blount), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 18:23 (twenty-two years ago)

my dad digs the baha men. he called me a few weeks ago from a cracker barrel in south carolina. he held up his cell to the muzak and asked me what was playing. i told him it was "who let the dogs out." he then said that he hadn't listened to much reggae "since bob died" but maybe he'd pick this up. i felt happy and sad at the same time.

the baha men are my 12 year-old bro's fave band. last summer he wanted to grow dreadlocks and bleach them so he'd have BOTH MEMBERS' HAIR IN ONE!!!

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 18:27 (twenty-two years ago)

do they have cracker barrel's up north?

James Blount (James Blount), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 18:36 (twenty-two years ago)

nope. which is bullshit. cracker barrel's got great mashed potatoes! and those rocking chairs!!!

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 18:40 (twenty-two years ago)

they got davy crockett hats!

James Blount (James Blount), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 18:43 (twenty-two years ago)

No way man there are totally Cracker Barrels in the north. At least, in Michigan where I grew up there were a bunch. I can only remember eating there a couple times though.

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 18:43 (twenty-two years ago)

rip po folks

James Blount (James Blount), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 18:47 (twenty-two years ago)

well there ain't none in nyc. my pyramid-game skillz have totally vamoosed!

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 18:52 (twenty-two years ago)

haha!

James Blount (James Blount), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 18:57 (twenty-two years ago)

There are also Cracker Barrels in Western MA.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 18:58 (twenty-two years ago)

i think i miss western sizzlin or golden corral more tho. nothing beats texas toast! ('cept hush puppies)

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 19:05 (twenty-two years ago)

That is one cool kid.

Some tried and true fare, at least with boys ages 5-9:
Blitzkrieg Bop - The Ramones (or ANY Ramones)
Salt Peanuts - Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie
Dance to the Music - Sly and the Family Stone
Twist and Crawl - English Beat
I Wanna be a Flintstone (12" single) - Screaming Blue Messiahs
This is the Day - The The
I Put a Spell on You - Screaming Jay Hawkins
Goo Goo Muck ? Cramps
White Lines ? Grandmaster Flash
Groove is in the Heart - Deee-Lite

Jazzbo (jmcgaw), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 19:23 (twenty-two years ago)

One thing I've learned with having two sons is that they don't always love the kiddie stuff you assume they'll love. They latch on to certain things in certain songs; my oldest son is addicted to the simple bass line in "This is the Day," for example.

Jazzbo (jmcgaw), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 19:32 (twenty-two years ago)

That's my thinking too, Jazzbo, and my experience with Dylan. Real kiddie stuff he'd find insulting, I think. I liked yr list a lot. Particularly the Ramones (why didn't I think of that???) and Screaming Jay Hawkins (I know he'd love his voice. The reason I put that Seeds song on there is cuz of the squealing "ooooh!" that punctuates each lyrics. I know he'd get off on that).

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 19:38 (twenty-two years ago)

As a child, I loved the bottom-heavy sounds of "Tobacco Road" by The Nashville Teens.

Plaudits go to Dylan for getting with ZZ Top though - I'm on a big ZZ kick myself. This kid is the zeitgeist!

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 19:46 (twenty-two years ago)

What, no Outhere Brothers?

Siegbran (eofor), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 19:47 (twenty-two years ago)

A nightly ritual now: My dad will put on some music to listen to after dinner, and Dylan will get mad. "Dad, I want to hear some rock and roll!" "But this is rock and roll, Dylan!" "No, real rock and roll!" And then my dad will put on Tres Hombres and Dylan will dance. I haven't been home since Christmas, so I haven't seen this for myself, unfortunately. ZZ Top is Dylan's new fave band.

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 19:49 (twenty-two years ago)

He needs some Hendrix, then!

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 19:51 (twenty-two years ago)

You should put a few songs not from the anglo-/american vein on there. I wish I'd been exposed to more "world" music when I was younger. (Besides Bob, of course) Caetano Veloso's "Baby" is loved by everyone, I'd think.

(Fishbone is a great suggestion, by the way. When I was 6, their cover of "Freddy's Dead" was my favorite song (had not heard the original), and I LOVED "Party at Ground Zero")

And there is, like, a Cracker Barrel on every block in Indiana.

Adam A. (Keiko), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 19:52 (twenty-two years ago)

He's heard Hendrix. My dad's a music nut, so the '60s are pretty well covered. The major shit anyway (except for the Who -- my pops has always hated them).

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 19:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Re: "world" music -- I've thought about this cuz he loves Graceland... Problem is, most Fela Kuti or Aster Awake songs are too long (those are the artists that came to mind yesterday). I will definitely put some Bob Marley on there. Maybe "High Tide or Low Tide."

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 19:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Blue Man Group - "Drumbone" (very bouncy and headbangin and such)

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Tuesday, 27 May 2003 20:09 (twenty-two years ago)

r u just listing songs you like now, skillz?

No. You don't think he'd like Royal Trux? They're not a far cry from ZZ Top if you think about it.

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 20:11 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm thinking fun, bright, and basslines.

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 20:12 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd say Bootsy Collins is well worth a try.

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 20:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Although Paranoid just plain rocks and every kid should get it for christmas.

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 20:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Reggae, yes reggae. Toots and the Maytals and Marley especially.
My sons also LOVE Yellowman's "Nobody Move, Nobody Get Hurt."

Jazzbo (jmcgaw), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 20:14 (twenty-two years ago)

That Bootsy song is a mixtape staple of mine... But yeah, Trux threw me off. Howevah, you might be right. Thanks for the suggestions tho, for serious.

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 20:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 20:22 (twenty-two years ago)

my six year old is fixated on busted at the moment. it will pass. it WILL pass. the day he grabs my foetus/age of chance cd's out of choice will be the day i'm a proud father - though i suspect i have quite a wait.
onwards ..

mark e (mark e), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 20:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Electric Six - "Danger High Voltage"

Yeah I'll back that one up. Not too sure how I'm going to explain Gay bar though, especially the video.

Billy Dods (Billy Dods), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 20:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Dan, why do you like Walt Mink?

Because they're from Minnesota.

Seriously, that's about 80% of the reason I like them. The other 20% is tied up in their love of odd rhythms and the ueber-jangly songwriting.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 20:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Three Dog Night, "Joy to the World"
The Isley Brothers, "It's Your Thing"
James Brown, "Super Bad"
Aretha Franklin, "Rock Steady"
Banbarra, "Shack Up"
Brick, "Dazz"
The Steve Miller Band, "Fly Like an Eagle"
Manu Dibango, "Soul Makossa"
Jimmy Castor Bunch, "Troglodyte"
Jorge Ben, "Taj Mahal"
Liquid Liquid, "Optimo"
Chic, "Good Times"
Guided By Voices, "I Am A Tree"

and come to think of it, maybe "Mundian To Bach Ke" would be perfect, no? He may not feel anything for the Jimmy Castor Bunch or Three Dog Night -- he might find them insultingly cute. There must be others (esp. rock ones) but I'm kinda blanking at the moment.

Jazzbo is right about kids being the original anti-canonical funsters. Everybody has inexplicable taste when they're six.

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 20:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Wait...rock-wise, this would be PERFECT.

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 20:50 (twenty-two years ago)

yanc3y - there's two posts on the matrix revisited thread I meant to post here. they will be obivious.

James Blount (James Blount), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 21:13 (twenty-two years ago)

haha! i just looked. yeah, tracer's all over those things. maybe i'll bum one from him.

can i just say that i hate my job? i just wrote 200 words on this mediocre modern-rock band called revis that makes them sound like the fucking beatles!

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 21:26 (twenty-two years ago)

The debut album from the Carbondale, Ill., quintet Revis is called Places for Breathing, something that the pummeling assault of most modern-rock albums doesn't allow room for these days. But Revis takes a different approach to hard rock, bridging noise and melody with determined power chords and frontman Justin Holman's straining vocals. The title track bites equally from Alice in Chains (twanging acoustic guitars over a stuttering rhythm) and Pink Floyd (a druggy chorus led by soft harmonies), while the disc's first single, "Caught in the Rain," quickly erupts from verses that could happily reside on country radio into an assaulting chorus that sounds like hell on the vocal chords.

Revis' oldest member is a mere 22 years old, which might explain the band's eagerness to set itself off from rock's morose mass of angst and furrowed brows. A demo showcasing these high aspirations made its way to the major record labels, and Epic signed the band last year. The five youngsters soon moved to Los Angeles with dreams of stardom dancing in their shaggy heads, and began work on Places for Breathing with mega-knob twiddlers Don Gilmore (Linkin Park) and Andy Wallace (Nirvana, System of a Down). With those experienced hands at the helm, the songs that Revis had banged out in their Illinois practice space became bona fide rock anthems.

Take the pulse of Illinois' coolest export by checking out one of the gigs on their current tour. With their stock soaring like the mercury in the thermometer, don't expect many Places for Breathing in the packed clubs, but with rock this good it's doubtful that you'll even notice.

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 21:34 (twenty-two years ago)

What the FUCK, Yanc3y. I'd trash my computer if I had to write that kind of slop.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 21:38 (twenty-two years ago)

that's my day job!

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 21:41 (twenty-two years ago)

and before it runs "bites" and "country radio" will be axed cuz they'll be deemed "too critical" by my editor.

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 21:42 (twenty-two years ago)

anyway, back to fun songs!

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 21:43 (twenty-two years ago)

loverboy - 'working for the weekend'

James Blount (James Blount), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 21:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Why not include the original "Strawberry Letter 23" by the Brothers Johnson?

Also good for your brother:

Chic, "Good Times" and "Everybody Dance"
Anything by Stevie Ray Vaughn
Psychedelic Furs, "Here Come Cowboys" and "All That Money Wants"

Aside from that, I'm at a loss. I would suggest songs I listened to when I was little, but those are golden oldies and I sense your brother might think they're too boring, old-fashioned, or childish. (But I still love The Mamas and the Papas' "California Dreaming", damn it. ;) )

Dee the Lurker (Dee the Lurker), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 22:00 (twenty-two years ago)

the original's actually by shuggie

James Blount (James Blount), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 22:02 (twenty-two years ago)

bob seger & the werewolf fightin silver bullet band - hollywood nights

James Blount (James Blount), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 22:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Gorillaz -- "Clint Eastwood" (Perfect 6-9 yr old boy music. Cartoons)

New Order -- "True Faith"

(When I was a very small boy,
Very small boys talked to me
Now that we've grown up together
They're afraid of what they see)

Eminem -- pretty much anything

Eiffel 65 -- "Blue (Da Ba Dee)"

Fatboy Slim -- "Rockefeller Skank"

Daft Punk -- "One More Time"

Johnny Cash -- "Hurt"

(These are all songs my 8 yr old has loved over the last little while -- go figure, with the last one!!!??)

Oh, and Yanc3y, my boy also loves the Beatles, and his favourite Beatles song? "Come Together". So what's the secret connection between that song and little kids?

David A. (Davant), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 22:23 (twenty-two years ago)

ol' flattop

James Blount (James Blount), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 22:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, and almost forgot.

"Fell in Love with a Girl" makes him fling himself around (and Lego in the video, too!) while "Dead Leaves on the Dirty Ground" makes him stomp around.

David A. (Davant), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 22:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Dylan's fave Stripes song is "Pretty Good Lookin for a Girl," but I don't think he's heard White Blood Cells. I can definitely see him digging "Fell in Love" though.

re: kids & "Come Together:" Ya got me. For Dylan it's that bassline for sure, though.

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 22:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Yep, that and the "shhhhhhhhooooop" just before, maybe?

But the bassline first and foremost I think.

David A. (Davant), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 04:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Children respond to bass.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 04:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Green Day - When I Come Around

Andrzej B. (Andrzej B.), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 04:39 (twenty-two years ago)

But Dan -- why d'ya think kids respond to bass? I mean, I respond to bass too (Peter Hook kills me sometimes), but is there something intrinsically more innocent and elemental to the deeper sounds in music. Are they more womb-like, perhaps?

(okay, this is a different thread now).

David A. (Davant), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 04:51 (twenty-two years ago)

I really don't know, Dave; I was just making a Renegade Soundwave reference. It is an interesting question, though; I've been obsessed with bass (and synths) since I was a child.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 05:39 (twenty-two years ago)

all the kids love Capt. Beefheart, esp. his boogie period circa Clear Spot/Spotlight Kid, so you might wanna try that too
Oh and the ultimate bass bonanza for the young ones = Mr. Oizo "Flat Beat" (wacky puppet in the video!)

Fabrice (Fabfunk), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 07:21 (twenty-two years ago)

I've even been known to forgive prog-rock its indulgences when Geddy Lee or Chris Squire start their rubbery twangy bass guitar tumbling.

(sorry, Yanc3ey, for thread hi-jack).

David A. (Davant), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 07:26 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't know if he's been mentioned yet, but you oughta include some Tommy James, like "Crimson and Clover", "Mony Mony", or especially "Draggin' The Line".

Charles McCain (Charles McCain), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 13:49 (twenty-two years ago)

So I think the mix is done. I considered pretty much every suggestion made here, and used several of them. If Dylan digs the thing then I'll make him another, using more of yall's way-too-kind help. Anyway, here's the current tracklisting, which sounds really, really fucking good to me (I bet I dig this more than he will):

1. Ramones, "Blitzkrieg Bop"
2. Velvet Underground, "Waiting for the Man"
3. Chuck Berry, "School Days"
4. Bob Marley, "Stir it Up"
5. Stevie Wonder, "Superstition"
6. James Brown, "I've Got Money"
7. The White Stripes, "Seven Nation Army"
8. Screamin' Jay Hawkins, "I Put a Spell on You"
9. The Seeds, "Can't Seem to Make You Mine"
10. Shuggie Otis, "Strawberry Letter 23"
11. Michael Jackson, "Billie Jean"
12. Freelance Hellraiser, "Stroke of Genius"
13. Pavement, "Cut Your Hair"
14. Ram Jam, "Black Betty"
15. Elvis Costello, "Angels Wanna Wear..."
16. Gang of Four, "Damaged Goods"
17. The Cure, "Just Like Heaven"
18. Sam Cooke, "Cupid"
19. Misfits, "Hybrid Moments"
20. The Who, "Can't Explain"
21. The Vibrators, "Baby Baby"
22. Dismemberment Plan, "The City"
23. Apples in Stereo, "Silvery Light of a Dream (Pt. 2)"

(I picked the DPlan song solely for the bassline and cuz I can easily see the D-man dancing to it)

THANKS AGAIN! KISSES EVERYONE!

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 14:25 (twenty-two years ago)

*sob*

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 14:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Why the long face, Mr. Perry? Cuz I didn't pick any of yr songs?

a nice thread this is, too bad i missed it.
my kneejerk response to your brother's "love of bass" was: Weezer - "Only in Dreams" (though the songs's may be a bit too long) and Can - "Sing Swan Song"

(and Yanc3y: the calla mix is one of my favorite "2003 releases"! great choice of songs, great sequencing: if they would ever consider some kind of "best of" release, hand this over)

willem (willem), Friday, 6 June 2003 10:27 (twenty-two years ago)

So I haven't given the disc to Dylan yet cuz I think I'm gonna make an ACCOMPANYING BOOK (!!!) of me and my friends doing goofy stuff/acting out lyrics to the songs just so he has something to look at while he's listening. That and he's never been to NYC and he always asks me what the trains look like. But I'm gonna send it soon. (I have no idea why any of you would care about this but so what)

And willem, glad you dig the Calla! I showed Wayne the tracklisting. He was very surprised to see his solo thing on there.

My son (just turned 4) loves "Clint Eastwood". It's a trip hearing him sing along to it; especially the Del parts he knows.

because it's a very nice & cool thing to do! (btw, i've never been in nyc as well: do the trains have a special look? ;)

re: tenEcke. "living ice age" is indeed gorgeous. handclaps and a guitar sounding like iron (entirely my thought: prolly doesn't make any sense), great. does Block Terrain contain more of this "broken" kind of songs? and do you know if it's available in Europe? (in my enthousiasm i've ordered Scavengers, Custom and the split with the Walkmen [all on vinyl fwiw], but i couldn't locate tenEcke-stuff. maybe i should look a little bit further)

willem (willem), Friday, 6 June 2003 21:22 (twenty-two years ago)

tenEcke was only released by a German label named K20. You can order it from in the states here:

http://www.othermusic.com/

But I would think you could find it over there... It all sounds very similar to "Living Ice Age," so I think you'd love it. It's an amazing record.

Nothing particularly special about the subways. I just think my brother's envisioning me getting on a locomotive in the mornings, which probably confuses him.

David Allen (David Allen), Thursday, 23 December 2004 18:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, I want to know what a six year old, or the six year old's parents, thought of The Vibrators.

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Friday, 24 December 2004 00:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Every six year old loves "Roses" by Outkast.

billstevejim, Friday, 24 December 2004 00:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Didn't see this thread the first time around but I'd have thought he'd like something by his namesake, Bob. "Like A Rolling Stone" is a boring suggestion but I can see a 6, and now 7 year old liking it.
