(what the Rockists didn't notice is that an Indie-ist agent has secretly slunk in, ninja-like, into their fort, and watches them at this very moment, waiting for the perfect moment to strike....)

Lord Custos Epsilon (Lord Custos Epsilon), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 16:39 (twenty-two years ago)

I was sexually assaulted by the Apes live twice

and the Liars

Yea, How's the Apes LP? The LUVISREAL 7" is awesome.... esp the part at the end of side one where they scream "TURN IT OVER!" a lot.

Jon Williams (ex machina), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 16:59 (twenty-two years ago)

ddb, Wednesday, 28 May 2003 17:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Dude dead dead bird dude like a real rockist wouldn't buy no Steely Dan "best-of." Fuh.

hstencil, Wednesday, 28 May 2003 17:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Maybe it has one token unreleased track, so the real completist/rockist NEEDS it.
Cuz rockists don't download and charlie (brown) don't surf

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 17:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Real rockists don't really like anything past Katy Lied anyway.

hstencil, Wednesday, 28 May 2003 17:27 (twenty-two years ago)

or do they pretend to like it?

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 17:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Rockists don't need to pretend to like something as we're all in our own little pretend world anyway.

hstencil, Wednesday, 28 May 2003 17:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Decade does have one non-LP track, "FM". I recently passed up a copy in the $3 cut-out bin, since I figured I needed to get all the albums anyway, but I missed that one tune. Oh well, I guess I can download it.

o. nate (onate), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 17:32 (twenty-two years ago)

You also need "Here at the Western World" (which is on Gold).

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 17:36 (twenty-two years ago)

I have to admit I'm puzzled by Horace's statement that rockists don't download. That hasn't been borne out it my experience.

o. nate (onate), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 17:40 (twenty-two years ago)

rockists love the warmth of CD. the way their oily fingers leave their prints on otherwise untarnished liner notes. the frustratingly hard, yet ultimately rewarding act of removing celophane.

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 17:58 (twenty-two years ago)

whatever dude we like LPs. You are so kicked outta the tree fort, Horace!

hstencil, Wednesday, 28 May 2003 18:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey, I only listen to 8-tracks, I'm the rockistest one here.

o. nate (onate), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 18:04 (twenty-two years ago)

No way man. You should totally hear what Geddy Lee has to say about that.
Uncle Geddy! Come make these big boys let me in their club.

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 18:05 (twenty-two years ago)

the SD CD was used and cheap, it's a living room cd, for when guests are over and i want them to LEAVE!...i have most of SD's stuff on VINYL...so my Rockist Cred remains...

ddb, Wednesday, 28 May 2003 18:05 (twenty-two years ago)

well I'm not sure if CANADIANS can be in the rockist club anyway. 100% American rock n' roll rockists here, bro (except I like a lot of the second-tier British Invasion bands and rural prog/folk stuff).

hstencil, Wednesday, 28 May 2003 18:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 18:45 (twenty-two years ago)

chad (chad), Thursday, 29 May 2003 08:59 (twenty-two years ago)

(as the Rockists finally drifts off the sleep, the Indie-ist ninja agent slinks from prone body to prone body silently slitting their throats until no-one is left....then he dissappears into the night like a misty apparition....)

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Monday, 9 June 2003 03:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey Jon, is that Teen Cthulhu CD any good? With a name like that I thought they'd be from Providence but I am mistaken, it seems.
Recently I have bought.. er.. a good deal of Depeche Mode, a Ministry CD (Psalm 69, I used to own it & sold it when going thru college-radio super-indie-snob phase and sadly disposing of much of my industrial dance stuff), System of a Down's Toxicity, DJ/Rupture Gold Teeth Thief, and Psychocandy by Jesus and Mary Chain. I guess it's time to see if Tom's Tracks will buy off any of my old CDs so I can pick up some new rock (rawk?!).. like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

daria g, Monday, 9 June 2003 03:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Jon Williams (ex machina), Friday, 20 June 2003 13:45 (twenty-two years ago)

I fucking passed up the Badfinger record with "Baby Blue" on it yesterday because the dude wanted $35 for a slightly-beat copy!
