disgusting hippy mudbath drum circle lice-fests or a rare glimpse of "wild in the streets"-style self-government in action?

or "is this the way the future's meant to feel, or just 20,000 people standing in a field"?

Search and destroy the music festivals of today [no colon].
Yes, I'm with you on that.

C'mon, I love looking at women who don't shave their pits.

I'll throw in a vote for Tin Can Full of Dreams. I haven't checked out who's up last year, but in the past the fest has had epic three day weekends, from noon until 1 am or so, filled with hardcore, math rock, noise and hard indie. Located in Providence last year, probably somewhere in MA this year.

...sort-of-relatedly, has anyone heard if there's any truth to the rumours that the New York Field Day Festival was going to be cancelled? Because that sounded like a good 'un.

nineteen years pass...

looking for recommendations of small to medium-sized, cool music festivals in the U.S., a la Goner Fest in Memphis, or the Oakland Weekender indie-pop fest that just happened, or Furnace Fest in Alabama, or the Migration metal festival in Pittsburgh ... basically smaller gatherings in smaller places. maaaaaaybe even as big as Treefort in Boise or Levitation or Desert Daze ... but not Lolla, Bonnaroo, Riot Fest, Outside Lands.

basically, i wanna travel to another city and spend three-ish days/nights hanging out, going to record stores and seeing bands in a relatively low-key environment. for years, i've been attending a nearby fest (attendance ~3,000 but super relaxed vibe) but am feeling like it's time to find the next thing.

anything come to mind?
