Creeping Nobodies album review used with credit from the pages of Big Takeover. When did AMG start using other sources for their reviews?

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Thursday, 29 May 2003 18:31 (twenty-two years ago)

a lot of reviews have that. i can remember it from at least 2 years ago.

King Kobra (King Kobra), Thursday, 29 May 2003 18:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Ok, then when is StinkyPants going to update Partsunkown's bio to include the links between the two bands (via Eric and Derek) and Partsunknown's first album?

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Thursday, 29 May 2003 18:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, there are a number of old reviews from BT and from Option deep in the bowels of the AMG. I think this was from when it all started back in 1990 and they wanted to build up their database.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 29 May 2003 18:45 (twenty-two years ago)

A fair amount of reviews from outside print sources has been used in the past. Most of it has been replaced. Rabid is a different situation; we've had his material for over two years now; more will show up on the site as time goes on. (It takes a while to whittle down the lengthier reviews and pull out phrases like "Their last album was our #1 pick of issue 32," especially when he gives us an issue's worth at a time. I know this from experience.)

Andy K (Andy K), Thursday, 29 May 2003 18:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh really, I hadn't realized the various BT reviews were new, or rather recently added. Well, them's cool. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 29 May 2003 18:52 (twenty-two years ago)

it's been a while(2+ years). They replaced my review of the last Leatherface album--one that i was rather proud of & the first piece of music writing/reviewing that I ever got paid for--with one of his.

feh.

Kingfish (Kingfish), Thursday, 29 May 2003 18:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Ah, well, that's a different story. :-( I admit I was worried when Nabisco started posting here because I had replaced a number of his reviews, but thankfully he didn't mind. Er, I hope?

Mike Taylor (mjt), Thursday, 29 May 2003 23:50 (twenty-two years ago)

No, Yoshi.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 29 May 2003 23:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I swear, 75% of all Wipers reviews I've ever read were by Jack Rabid. Talk about stuffing the ballot box.

I admit I was worried when Nabisco started posting here because I had replaced a number of his reviews, but thankfully he didn't mind. Er, I hope?

Yet I note he does not fear Sean despite overwritting his reviews and his horrid name calling.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Friday, 30 May 2003 13:03 (twenty-two years ago)

But I love the Sean!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 30 May 2003 13:52 (twenty-two years ago)

He did call you a bastard though.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Friday, 30 May 2003 14:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Don't worry I'm trying to egg you all on into a

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Friday, 30 May 2003 14:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 30 May 2003 14:51 (twenty-two years ago)

huh? what happened in canada?

why the hell would someone want an AMG fight? yay--pasty-faced music geek/indie rockers get in a slapfight! Watch Tom Erlewine get his shit handed to him, mod-style!

another fun bit that I just discovered: Eugene Chadbourne now writes for AMG. Weird.

Kingfish (Kingfish), Friday, 30 May 2003 15:14 (twenty-two years ago)

While we're at it, what the hell is up with those Leatherface reviews?

Linx? LINX? And why are the dates all wrong, and...

ARG, forgot it... stupid AMG.

John 2, Saturday, 31 May 2003 12:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Stinkypants keeps requesting these Canadian albums to review, including this Creeping Nobodies record. Stinkypants keeps getting smacked down yo.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Saturday, 31 May 2003 13:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Thanks for pointing out those Le'face issues. I have a strange feeling those dates will be fixed soon. I also have a strange feeling Linx will soon change to Minx.

Stupid AMG-ILX Helpdesk (Andy K), Saturday, 31 May 2003 13:11 (twenty-two years ago)

And why does the Euroboys entry have a picture of Turbonegro?

man, Saturday, 31 May 2003 23:43 (twenty-two years ago)

and why do people let Richie Unterberger review music?

jack cole (jackcole), Saturday, 31 May 2003 23:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Wel maybe I just want to see Mark and S.Pants teamup on Ned and a partner of his choice. Live on Maple Leaf Wrestling on CHCH, be there or be in jail, and if your in jail, BREAKOUT!

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Saturday, 31 May 2003 23:57 (twenty-two years ago)

eleven months pass...
AMG thread picked entirely at random to ask: are track-publisher details and/or composition-date details available somewhere really obvious that I am missing, or is there some other groovyace reliable source somewhere for this kind of information? Or foolproof alternative way of getting this kind of information (that doesn't involve opening dozens of CD boxes in local store, or whatever [most of them are elaborately security-tagged anyway etc etc])? Also, does anywhere aside from AMG have any kind of songwriter-credits database? This is quite a long shot and not very well-worded BUT (thanks, lots).
