What can you tell me about it, and what should I look for?

er, search: EVERYTHING! Really encapsulates that period of, um, 'dance music' (for want of a better phrase).

Special mentions to:

The Todd Terry Project - "Weekend/ Just Wanna Dance"
Cash Money & Marvellous - "The Mighty Hard Rocker"
EPMD - "Strictly Business"
Joyce Sims
Dinosaur L
Indian Ocean
etc
etc
etc

Classic!

Bing! New Answers!

Sorry Mike - I am the thread killah! This thread must have got lost somehow, cos I can't believe no-one here would ignore the genius that is Sleeping Bag records.

Bill E (bill_e), Tuesday, 3 June 2003 04:32 (twenty-two years ago)

The Mantronix produced Joyce Sims are wonderful things. Indian Ocean seconded. Er, i actually don't know where to start with this.

Lemme rifle through the record collection...

gaz (gaz), Tuesday, 3 June 2003 04:49 (twenty-two years ago)

was "It takes two" on sleeping bag?

gaz (gaz), Tuesday, 3 June 2003 04:56 (twenty-two years ago)

if so GREATEST LABEL EVER

jess (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 3 June 2003 04:57 (twenty-two years ago)

wasn't that on Profile?

Bill E (bill_e), Tuesday, 3 June 2003 04:59 (twenty-two years ago)

chandra simmons: never gonna let you go. i think this is mantronix too.
might've been Bill.

gaz (gaz), Tuesday, 3 June 2003 05:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, it was on Profile. Does that make Profile the greatest label evah, Jess?? ;-)

Bill E (bill_e), Tuesday, 3 June 2003 05:50 (twenty-two years ago)

pffft. Profile was the greatest label ever as soon as the 1st Run DMC came out.

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Tuesday, 3 June 2003 06:13 (twenty-two years ago)

vahid (vahid), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 22:10 (nineteen years ago)

THREE mixes of Class Action's "Weekend"??? Just buy it already!

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 23:25 (nineteen years ago)

xp - I HAVEN"T HEARD IT THEREFORE I CANNOT TELL U

I used to have the "It Takes 2" 12" and I could SWEAR it said Sleeping Bag on it, but no discogs.com says it's Profile }-`:

All that Mantronix shit tho was Sleeping Bizzag

name (eman), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 23:34 (nineteen years ago)

Aright I have Vol. 1 of this, but let's see. The Dhar Braxton is far from classic Sleeping Bag, as with that Chocolette. The label was hit-or-miss in the later years. M&M mixes are always hot ("Weekend"), and I suppose Todd Terry's version is well-liked by the house heads.

In summation, hell no, not worth it at Japanese import price.

Confounded (Confounded), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 23:51 (nineteen years ago)

Confounded (Confounded), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 23:54 (nineteen years ago)

Mike T-diva's Top 15 Sleeping Bag Trax Of All Time:

1. Class Action ft Chris Wilshire - Weekend
2. Joyce Sims - All And All
3. Mantronix - Scream
4. Rob Base & DJ E-Z Rock - It Takes Two
5. Joyce Sims - Lifetime Love
6. Dhar Braxton - Jump Back (Set Me Free)
7. Kariya - Let Me Love You For Tonight
8. Todd Terry Project - Weekend
9. Joyce Sims - Come Into My Life
10. Dinosaur L - Go Bang!
11. Mantronix - Needle To The Groove
12. Indian Ocean - School Bell / Treehouse
13. Tafuri - What Am I Gonna Do (About Your Love)?
14. Nocera - Summertime Summertime
15. Todd Terry Project - Bango (To The Batmobile Let's Go)

Rob Base & DJ E-Z Rock's "It Takes Two" was definitely on Profile, so Gawd knows how it ended up on a Sleeping Bag compilation...

mike t-diva (mike t-diva), Wednesday, 12 April 2006 11:45 (nineteen years ago)

...so if it's disallowed, then shove Mantronix "Bassline" at #15 instead.

mike t-diva (mike t-diva), Wednesday, 12 April 2006 11:46 (nineteen years ago)

one year passes...
