Richard X featuring Tiga-You (Better Let Me Love You X)

Anyone heard this?

80s as hell, Richard X likes his camp grooves. Tiga is obviously determined to become something of a trashy superstar. Whether he'll succeed without transmogrifying into Gonzalez remains to be seen.

My thread is so lonely, it's just you and me now thread, and we're going to ride this mother into the sunset, and keep on keepin on until we find some new answers in life.

Ronan, I have heard this song and it is indeed aces. I got it on a mix cd and had no idea what it was.

It's cool cos as much as I like electroclash, lots of it was darker and not quite as full on 80s as it was made out to be in the media or wherever, but this is complete hipshaking camp style. It's also got a kind of steady 3 in the morning set feel to it, electros answer to a Prassay or something

Toby I heard it on the Essential Selection, it's still archived there and you can skip ahead to it. http://www.bbc.co.uk/dance

Actually if you wade through the crap Tong's show is well worth a listen I find.

thanks ronan. i always forget to skip through the essential selection.

on first listen... it's ok. i like the spoken bit in the middle. "madame hollywood" was better though (actually i probably even prefer "hot in here", though i know i'm the only person in the world (except maybe gareth?) who likes that).

anna says the steady 3am in the morning thing is what's killing dance music btw.

"We were on a car trip oohoo, a very long car trip
Everyone was hungry and everyone was bored.
Where was the tapedeck? Where was the marijuana?
Where were the luxuries that we could once afford?
Easily afford aaaaaaaaaa"

"We'll be riding in the back of a limousine
I'll be wearing my pink suit
The foreign-born commando will gun you down
Then he'll shoot you dead
And that will be the end
And that's the end
That will be the end of you."

"I tried on all the clothes
I read all the magazines
And still I do not know nono I don't know
What to talk about can't talk about it
What to think about can't think about it
Try to figure it out can't figure it out
Get a handle on that scene"

killing dance music

if it dies do we all have to become goths? or worse?

I am going to Felix tonight, I wonder will he play this. (or turn up)

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 1 June 2003 19:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Might be a good point though, what really is left after "So Much Love To Give".

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 1 June 2003 20:03 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm listening to that Essential Selection show right now, and lots of great tunes in the first hour. Love the new Spiller track!

Siegbran (eofor), Sunday, 1 June 2003 20:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Holy shit that new Alan Braxe tune is hot!

Like you clubbers aren't already....

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Sunday, 1 June 2003 21:45 (twenty-two years ago)

I want the Alan Braxe thing, not heard it yet though, but he's generally great. I couldn't skip to it for some reason, it kept losing the feed. What style is it?

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 2 June 2003 10:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Ronan, it was a flip comment made just after waking up (I fell asleep on the sofa whilst reading).
I do think that the 3am chugging thing has bought about a lot of bad singles ("Yeah, it's a building block, good DJ tool" = "it's fucking boring.").

I thought the Richard X/ Tiga thing was alright, but given they are two artists who have produced records just bursting with personality and joy, then this falls down as less than the sum of it's parts.

Tiga's Hot in Herre is coming out on Skint and has puppets in the video.

Anna (Anna), Monday, 2 June 2003 11:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah I saw that Skint signed it, those wacky guys. They sign everything these days.

I think the biggest thing that's making some house sets shit at the moment is what you say yeah, there are loads of these slightly tribal house records which do nothing for 6 or 7 minutes, it's like Medicine8 taken to extremes.

Jon Carter is all into this shite now aswell, and it's so utterly crap and predictable I can't understand why, he used to be fun. Saville Row records etc can fail miserably for all I care, and this is a DJ I've seen about 14 times. His Breezeblock mix about 2 weeks ago was just the epitome of it, humourless crap house music, like Medicine8 without the hooks.

I meant more 3am in a good minimal party rocker kind of way about Richard X/Tiga but I definitely know what you mean.
