The New Adam Green Album Is Amazing

And I'm probably the only person on ILM who'll care. Ah well.

But it is.

And "Jessica" is the most disturbing thing I've heard this year. It's about Jessica Simpson, and, no, its not in the style of those kooky pop-punk "I fancy a pop singer I do" songs.

I just downloaded it from soulseek... very good stuff.

That's not Adam Green singing is it? If so, when did he learn to sing?

I'll admit, it does sound nothing like Adam Green's voice. He also appears to have grown a rather ill-advised "temperental midfield genius" haircut as well.

Is this the Moldy Peaches dude? And if so, this isn't about that Garfield album, right? That one was pretty weak and I don't recall a song about Jessica Simpson on it.

Yeah, it's the guys from Moldy Peaches, and, no, it's not the album he dropped last year. This one's called "Friends of Mine", I don't think its up for release in the US for another two months (it's not out in the UK for a month, anyway).

It's weird, because everyone always assumes the Moldy Peaches dynamic is that Kimya writes the emotional stuff, and Adam does the knob gags... and yet it's a knob gag-less envrionment.

actually, I'm pretty intrigued. The best songs on Garfield were the less knob-gaggy ones.

two months pass...
I saw him do an instore in Manchester just before I graduated in June. When I told him I enjoyed the set (well, forced-enjoyed, don't remember anything other than Jessica and the jokey parts where he interrupted the songs), he looked almost scared. Freak.

three years pass...

I still thoroughly enjoy Friends of Mine. Every song.
Great album.

I thought I was the only one!

You are not alone. The guy's a genius. I love how he sabotages his songs.

six months pass...

Initial listen to Sixes and Sevens indicates maybe he's finally made an equal to Friends of Mine.
