And my other ramble, a reflection on that joyful summer experience of flat beer, feeling greasy thanks to all the sunblock and inadequate acoustics. Rock festivals are already talked about on another thread, which admittedly helped inspire this particular hoo-hah of mine...

US-style one day festivals are pathetic failed simulacra of proper multiday camping festivals like Glastonbury, Reading, or Roskilde. I don't think they should be even called festivals, although I suppose "all day open air concerts" is a bit of a mouthful.
