I know I could get more obscure and earn more music geek cred, but I just wanted to make a fun mix of obvious goodies. If this seems like fun and you want a copy, let me know. I am sending out five copies, they are going out on a first come first serve basis.

Also, any opinions on programming would be appreciated. I think I might have made too hard of a turn between Arthur Russel and Material Issue.

if it is fun you should have put something like 'tesla girls' or 'locomotion' instead of 'enola gay'

But Keith, this is fun for people who hate fun.

I listened to this mix in the car tonight. It is set up completely wrong. They are all good songs, but they are put together in the wrong order. The pop songs should be at the very beginning so that it can build into the new wave, the new wave should progress into the more floor friendly new wave tracks, and then the floor oriented new wave stuff should build into the disco stuff.

I know I am going to definitely pull Einstein A Go-Go from the track listing because it is not strong enough to fit with the other new wave material. I picked it because the video is so goofy that it makes Video Killed The Radio Star look like high art.

I am also going to pull The Waitresses because I cannot really place them into the context of any of the other songs. It is too groovy to fit into the pop material, the song does not have the sonic texture to fit into the new wave section, and the song structure is wrong for the disco section. The closest thing I could pair it with is Shack Up by ACR, and that would pull the mix in a different direction that would be harder to backtrack from.

I will post the revision later tonight.

Sigh. I really want the extended remix of Planet Earth. Is this the one that was on the original UK album, which was pulled and replaced with the shorter radio edit when re-released (with Is There Something I Should Know) in the States? Cause I don't have that version on CD anywhere, and I wants it!

It is the 12" club edit.

I have a copy of Major Tom in German, I can substitute that for the english version. I still need to figure out exactly how I am going to revise the track listing.
