(Obviously, we're not big fans of either band.)

Until Thom and co ape this they will never shake off the shackles of capitalist oppression.

But do you think even Radiohead's albums will in thirteen years have such a classic status as The Power? I think Simple Unpretentious Dance Music will always eventually triumph over The Newest Clever Indie Sensation.

Tuomas, Radiohead are *NOT* indie. They are BIG FAT PROG ROCK WITH A CAPITAL WANK!!! Now, I love them. But please don't dismiss them as indie-schmindie farts. They are BIG and IMPORTANT.

I find these sort of debates kinda fun, especially if the debating partners haven't got strong feelings about either of the bands. It's even funnier when there's someone around who does have those strong feelings - a friend of us was listening to our debate, and being a huge Radiohead fan, she became super-angry just at the thought that we dared to have such a conversation.

OH MY GOD YES.
I know I come across as Mr. You-Must-Be-A-Trained-Singer but really I have two requirements for vocalists:
1) The way you're singing/vocalizing matches and/or compliments the song. (An example: I think Aretha Franklin is a fantastic singer but I hate it when she sings Puccini because her vocal style doesn't match or compliment the music Puccini wrote.)
2) You can recreate or build upon your recorded performances in your live performances. (An example: Robert Smith isn't a trained singer and has never sounded like one, but you will never hear a studio album with his voice on it that has been pitch-shifted into tune. He can do almost everything live that he did on record and he's got alternate melodies for things he can no longer do.)
Thom Yorke satisfies both of these criteria for me.

Just out of curiosity, why do singers lose their range when they get older?

Schni Schna Schnappi Schnappi Schnappi Schnapp Schni Schna Schnappi Schnappi Schnappi Schnapp
Schni Schna Schnappi Schnappi Schnappi Schnapp (schnapp!) Schni Schna Schnappi (ja!) Schnappi Schnappi Schnapp (schnapp!) Schni Schna Schnappi (mhmm!) Schnappi Schnappi Schnapp (ja!) Schni Schna Schnappi Schnappi (hmm) Schnappi Schnapp
