beats blood or sweat easy (tho' they have their place too). i've seen this term a few times on ILM and have instantly been filled with a true yearning to hear whatever is being discussed. it just really pushes my buttons, so that i would be more desperate to hear something i've never heard of (but is steeped in romanticism and contradiction) than, say, the new track by *insert name here*.

So i reckon all selections should be defined by their ongoing battle between your head and your feet, but pick 'em from wherever you want.

but no ultravox.

Duplex 'Late Night Cycling' is wistful brooding nostalgic luxury...i'd like to cry to it but i actually cannot, still its worth mentioning in the same breath as the other tracks i already posted

Haha typical, I was just thinking about that Duplex song on the thread on "songs about cycling". I just love that tune, it lives up to its title in a magnificent way. Crystal clear, nocturnal synths washing in and out with a light, steady cycling-tempo underneath. It's incredibly powerful yet so lightfooted that the emotion doesn't feel forced at all.

Nightcrawlers 'Push The Feeling On' originally seemed like quite a sad subdued anthem, then it became a huge hit but going back to it now it still retains a similar poignancy to classics such as the aforementioned Nightcrawlers and Frankie Knuckles

I'm gonna think hard before I contribute here - tears on the dancefloor is, like, one of the reigning critical concepts in my world.
