GOTCHA ! Nick, you have added a link to my weblog, but you ain't been reading ;-)

from last week:

The Rapture - delayed Echoes

Reported earlier this week @ dotmusic RAPTURE ON 'ECHOES'

According to frontman Luke Jenner, 'Echoes' is scheduled to "drop towards the end of summer, early fall"

DJ Martian (djmartian), Tuesday, 3 June 2003 14:29 (twenty-two years ago)

this album has been constantly delayed !

DJ Martian (djmartian), Tuesday, 3 June 2003 14:30 (twenty-two years ago)

not delayed, martian. they've just been getting wooed by the majors and were waiting on the right deal, which they got from universal.

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Tuesday, 3 June 2003 14:32 (twenty-two years ago)

well I have it queued up on Soulseek, though now I suppose it could be a fake, grr

DG (D_To_The_G), Tuesday, 3 June 2003 14:35 (twenty-two years ago)

ha ha i would love for this thing to go unreleased for the rest of the year and then place really high in the 2003 polls

jess (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 3 June 2003 14:36 (twenty-two years ago)

delayed Echoes

That's an even better name!

Was listening to it again last night. Definitely my fave band of the current crop of those hip young artists all the kids are talking about lately, etc.

I am deeply sympathetic with Jess's vision.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 3 June 2003 14:37 (twenty-two years ago)

if the rapture were for reals then they'd NEVER release it so only the TRUE FANS could dance in its glittered xtacy!

i'm gonna see them on thursday w/ lcd soundsystem. i'm looking forward to it. i haven't seen them in almost a year. (and at that show i dance w/ craig wedren from shudder to think who sorta/kinda licked me ear)

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Tuesday, 3 June 2003 14:38 (twenty-two years ago)

"dance" = "danced"

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Tuesday, 3 June 2003 14:39 (twenty-two years ago)

tentative u.k. release is sept.8, with u.s. cd release about 4-6 weeks after. dfa is supposed to do a vinyl only release to coincide with the u.k. date.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 3 June 2003 14:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Brits get it before the Yanks ! and it's an American band, strange world ! I guess the import specialists Siren Disc will be selling many import copies to US hipsters! http://www.sirendisc.com/

DJ Martian (djmartian), Tuesday, 3 June 2003 14:56 (twenty-two years ago)

what the hell people its not that good.

chaki (chaki), Tuesday, 3 June 2003 15:43 (twenty-two years ago)

hmm well what do I have queued then?

DG (D_To_The_G), Tuesday, 3 June 2003 15:46 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm not sure if i even *like* it. ( = check back here in early 2004 for my scheduled hivemind turnaround.)

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Tuesday, 3 June 2003 16:58 (twenty-two years ago)

What Chaki said.

Andy K (Andy K), Tuesday, 3 June 2003 17:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Depending on your view on downloading, the album can easily be heard -- it's all over Soulseek (and as far as I can tell, there aren't any fake or skipping tracks; I got a 192kb copy). I think the album will surprise a lot of people; there's really only 2 or 3 of the Go4 type songs -- there's a few flat out house numbers, and some really pretty ballads. It's also worth noting that at least 5 or 6 of the songs (in other forms) have been previously available on other records... the opener, "Olio," is a song from their pre-hype Gravity CD "Mirror."

I was really surprised by the diversity on the album, that's what sold me. I really love Echoes from start to finish, and I'm very excited to be seeing them play live on Thursday.

I especially love "Open Up Your Heart", which sounds to me like solo John Lennon by way of Pavement's "Stop Breathin'"

"I Need Your Love" is just fabulous, too.

Matthew Perpetua (Matthew Perpetua), Tuesday, 3 June 2003 18:41 (twenty-two years ago)

i liked 'em better when they were called the ratpure

Tad (llamasfur), Tuesday, 3 June 2003 18:43 (twenty-two years ago)

yr rite, tad. they totally sold out when they switched the spelling. maybe they were tired of the secret of nimh references in the press?

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Tuesday, 3 June 2003 18:48 (twenty-two years ago)

more Ratpure "side projects":

HATE POSSUM
PURE RATE HIKE
THE RARE RAT ATTACK

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 3 June 2003 18:51 (twenty-two years ago)

I was much happier when there was a thread that called this band "The Ratpure," and politely request that we refer to them by that name for the foreseeable future.

I have asked for my email accounts to be deleted from this loathesome forum and have recieved nothing but abuse. Under the Data Protection Act I would remind you that I am entitled to this, yet the post continues to be put up by someone hiding under a moniker. I'd like to know why ILM allows people to hide under monikers and steal names while they sit and giggle like schoolgirls as they play on their silly chat room.

I see that you encourage the spamming of other people's accounts and find this behaviour despicable. I shall be alerting every moderator on this thread and be asking, nicely, for the posts to be removed before going to ILM's web host and if need be taking this further. I have asked you to remove the post bearing my personal email details and reveal the person who has posted under my name. I see no respect shown to privacy on this forum only a bunch of thugs looking to harrass and undermine someone's personal account.

Calz (Calz), Tuesday, 3 June 2003 18:55 (twenty-two years ago)

ha ha i would love for this thing to go unreleased for the rest of the year and then place really high in the 2003 polls

fact: the demo cassette of Slanted & Enchanted placed 56th in the 1991 Pazz & Jop, a year before it came out

M Matos (M Matos), Tuesday, 3 June 2003 19:16 (twenty-two years ago)
