I also have the Ped X-Ing/Lazy Magnet 7" which has two USAISAM members doing folksy/country solo traxxx. Lazy Magnet is ex-drummer Jeremy and Ped X-Ing is Colin (vocals, guitar, drums, anything.)
What do you guys think about 'em? I'm most interested in hearing some of their earlier records or getting an idea of if they're worth picking up.

So what do the ILM'er's here think about the band? They have put out four full lengths and two EP's and are doing their last show in May. Yeah I run Load and am biased beyond belief, but they have not received the love of half talents operating in the same universe. They don't sound like the noisy sound most of you run from when you see Load, I promise.

They are great guys, and more pleasurable to do sound for than most bands where the drummer also sings.

I used to see USA Is A Monster ALL THE TIME in Providence. Many great shows. Planning on going to their final gig.

TBH while I really like all their records, they absolutely BRING IT live.

latest one is hypnotic. too bad they're breaking up. the recent pitchfork joke of a review was so pathetic, dodging mentioning how prog it is in favor of ice kraut or something. 'skyscraper' 30 "weeping, grandiose" made lots more sense. ". . . iceberg tip, the hull on the ship. there's an awful lot of love that's got a make a little difference. sometimes i'm sure, i'm really quite sure that the obscure images have a great significance . . ."
