So, you start the album with a 20-odd minute stringfest with an American woman talking. I think the album's beautiful but will probably never listen to it again.

I think the album's beautiful but will probably never listen to it again.

My sentiments exactly. I really love the idea of it, though.

I'm eager to hear this, and would love to see what more folks think about it. But I'm not keen on spending $36 to buy it from Amazon.com.

I've heard a couple of 30-second clips (from the opening track and the one conventional "song with vocals") and I'm surprised how much the former sounds like classic Prefab Sprout, despite the instrumental-plus-spoken-word format. (Although it also reminds me a bit of Goldie's Saturnz Return. Which I like. Yes, it's a lonely life.)

Email me if you'd like copy of my copy Paul.

Turns out the whole album -- all 50+ minutes -- is streamed at http://www.prefabsprout.com/ (when the home page first loads, a small "I Trawl the Megahertz" window opens along with it).

eight years pass...

If you waiting for hurricane Irene to arrive, sitting by your window, put this on--it is BEAUTIFUL. The long title track in particular is astonishing. If you are predisposed to swooning, this will give you goosebumps..

The title track is incredible, but the one track McAloon sings on, "Sleeping Rough", is utterly heartbreaking.

Yeah, the ones that are just music aren't so hot, but those two are the stand outs.

Wish he'd do another album along these pacific lines. The album wrings me out every listen.

I bought this at the time. I dig it out once every few years, listen to it, am captivated, put it away again. Rinse and repeat unto death.

There was a picture of him with Spike Lee a couple years back and intimation they were working together...wonder if anything became of it?...

Apparently he’s also working on a musical with Spike Lee’s brother, Cinque.
