Aren't these two songs very similar, production and rhythm wise?

no

I can *sort of* see the rhythm similarity, but the production styles are completely different in my opinion. "Jump Off" is far rougher and, frankly, a much better tune. "When the Last Time" is a generic club anthem that sounds like a million other rap songs.

in attempts to be all trendspotty, i've mentioned before on ilm (twice i think) that they've got the same tire squeal noise riff. other than that, i'm not sure. "the jump off" makes me think of thousands of clapping clams. i've probably said that before, too.

Are you guys talking about the Wu-tang song "the Jump Off"? I don't remember a tire squeal noise in that song.

and yes there is a similarity, but big deal

the lil kim track

Aw, faaack! Strike my comments from the record then!

When's the Last Time absolutely kills the Jump Off. I don't think they sound too similar. However, portions of The Jump Off seem to directly reference Get Ur Freak On.

yeah, i think most of the Tim/Nep comparisons are misguided, but this is definitely one of the few examples of intersection, whether intended or not. similiar noisy bass bump, and the rhythm of the chorus vocal on both is similiar. Clipse track wins easy, though.

its fun to sing one or two lines from the clipse hook and then switch over to the Lil Kim song. they are pretty much the same thing. one of timbaland's worst beats. one of the neptune's best. hmmm...
