Most of Kompakt's Pop Ambient series is kinda spotty...any recommendations for someone who finds "In Moll", start-to-finish, amazing?

anything but Audio Island (:

try D. Haines' emo and Shuttle358 (Josh Abrams), whose Optimal and Frame should be just what you're looking for. i've heard good things about Tim Hecker's latest Mille Plateaux opus, Radio Amor.

Yagya, Veer, Anders Ilar. but they're all Gas and/or Vladislav Delay copyists to some degree (as is Herr Guenter's In Moll, let's be fair...), so head straight for the originals. Königsforst or Pop for Gas; Entain for VD.

yes, go for the gas records, particularly pop, the loveliest record of the 90s

popopopopopopopopopopopopop!

last year i walked out of a record store without "pop", wondering if i really needed an album with 70 minutes of the same thing on it (even though i love things like that, i'm really terrible when trying to justify [non-]purchases to myself). then as i got outside it was raining lightly and everything had that early evening blue-orange glow and i could still hear those shimmery cymbals and the filtered water-running-through-leaves sounds in my head so i went back to the shop and bought it and now that very same record is my wife. [/emo].

Shuttle358 is great warm mellow ambient glitch stuff. I would wholeheartedly recommend Understanding Wildlife and Chessa. There's none of the expansive cosmic blade runner vibes that occasionally run through Guentner's stuff, though.
