Does Nickalicious have the worst taste ever?

I mean he seems like a nice enough guy but really: Frusciante, Buckethead, Medeski, System of a Down! C'mon, isn't there a better web site for you!?

Colleen's Hero, Friday, 6 June 2003 06:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, get out. The whole point of the board is to defend what you like and hopefully have a sense of humor about it too, and Nickalicious fulfills that completely.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 6 June 2003 06:10 (twenty-two years ago)

2 to 3 Colleen's Hero is a friend of Nick just being silly

donut bitch (donut), Friday, 6 June 2003 06:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, I'm debating that myself.
Anyway, I think his taste encompasses a lot more than the people you listed.

oops (Oops), Friday, 6 June 2003 06:16 (twenty-two years ago)

I think it does, too, and don't be dissin my nick now, 'cause I'll have to put the smackdown on yo' monkey behind... < /badass>

luna (luna.c), Friday, 6 June 2003 06:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh come on!! Don't you like Ween???

Evan (Evan), Friday, 6 June 2003 07:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, but that is why we love him.

I really admire Nickalicious in that he can have taste that is just about the virtual opposite of mine, yet he can argue his points rationally, intelligently, passionately - and yet almost never rudely - in such a way that I can understand what it is he hears in the music that he likes.

Which is a lot more than I can say for a great deal of the people who *share* my taste in music!

So this totally redeems him for his insistence on the Funk. ;-)

kate (kate), Friday, 6 June 2003 07:47 (twenty-two years ago)

i pity the people that dont share nick's taste.

chaki (chaki), Friday, 6 June 2003 08:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Nick turned me onto Morphine so that gets 'props'. Plus he's becoming Brian Eno.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Friday, 6 June 2003 08:17 (twenty-two years ago)

i like some of the stuff that nick likes, and i don't like some of the stuff that nick likes (esp. buckethead -- WTF?) which makes him par for the course 'round here.

Tad (llamasfur), Friday, 6 June 2003 08:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Klaus Nomi is the most important artist of all time.

Momus (Momus), Friday, 6 June 2003 08:46 (twenty-two years ago)

All right, I'll get my pointy-shouldered vinyl-protein dinner jacket.

Momus (Momus), Friday, 6 June 2003 08:50 (twenty-two years ago)

yes, he has the worst taste, perhaps not ever though.

but who doesn't?

gaz (gaz), Friday, 6 June 2003 09:28 (twenty-two years ago)

i have the worst taste ever, and ain't no red hot chilli pepper luvin mofo going to take that from me

mark s (mark s), Friday, 6 June 2003 10:25 (twenty-two years ago)

i have no taste mark...

gaz (gaz), Friday, 6 June 2003 10:41 (twenty-two years ago)

I disagree, gaz. I'm grooving to yer taste in hip-hop as we speak.

Lord Custos Epsilon (Lord Custos Epsilon), Friday, 6 June 2003 10:59 (twenty-two years ago)

*contemplates wide open goal*

mark s (mark s), Friday, 6 June 2003 11:01 (twenty-two years ago)

ah, er, but...custos is even more distasteful than me.

gaz (gaz), Friday, 6 June 2003 11:03 (twenty-two years ago)

I've been humming the horn bit from "Dowhatyalike" for two days now!

Lord Custos Epsilon (Lord Custos Epsilon), Friday, 6 June 2003 11:09 (twenty-two years ago)

taste though. its so, ah, discimintory. its for people who can spell proper, and want you to know it.

gaz (gaz), Friday, 6 June 2003 11:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Abstract question for any forum member who wants to tackle it:
Is there other possible definitions for "Taste" besides the one used in Fancy Feast cat food commercials?

Lord Custos Epsilon (Lord Custos Epsilon), Friday, 6 June 2003 11:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Heh I should know all about taste. I mean, once upon a time, I made an album called _Taste_. But I still can't tell you what it means.

Oh wait, yes I do. It means, I rock, U R gay. Indeed.

kate (kate), Friday, 6 June 2003 11:44 (twenty-two years ago)

kate: Less Filling, Tastes Great.

Lord Custos Epsilon (Lord Custos Epsilon), Friday, 6 June 2003 11:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Sigh, I'd prefer to be more filling, cause then I'd eat less. Like flapjacks. Mmmm, flapjacks - they have a new flavour - Bakewell Tart, which was just so delicious I had to have it, even though I'd sworn off flapjacks. And tarts.

kate (kate), Friday, 6 June 2003 11:50 (twenty-two years ago)

what a bullshit thread.

Chris V. (Chris V), Friday, 6 June 2003 11:58 (twenty-two years ago)

have a coffee chris, get back to us.

gaz (gaz), Friday, 6 June 2003 12:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Taster's Choice, perhaps?

kate (kate), Friday, 6 June 2003 12:08 (twenty-two years ago)

(BTW, I am surprised that no one has yet replied "I don't know, I've never licked him!")

kate (kate), Friday, 6 June 2003 12:10 (twenty-two years ago)

this is bad taste ...

Tad (llamasfur), Friday, 6 June 2003 12:13 (twenty-two years ago)

All I know is, one time I licked Nickalicious to see what he tasted like, and I got a wicked buzz.

NA. (Nick A.), Friday, 6 June 2003 12:18 (twenty-two years ago)

that's what listening to all that buckethead will do to a body!

Tad (llamasfur), Friday, 6 June 2003 12:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Wow, I'm the new Geir!

(CDs sitting on my desk right now, as further evidence of how bad my taste is: Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's Final Studio Sessions, Radiohead's The Bends, Bjork's Homogenic, Blur's Think Tank, Critters Buggin's Guest, a Garaj Mahal concert bootleg, Weather Report's Black Market, Parliament's Motor Booty Affair, Lovage: Music to Make Love to Your Old Lady By, Talking Heads' More Songs About Buildings and Food, Stevie Wonder's Innervisions, D'Angelo's Voodoo, Common's Electric Circus, The Cure's Disintegration, The Clash's Sandinista!, and ODB's Ni**a Please...just for your further dissapproval)

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 6 June 2003 12:28 (twenty-two years ago)

he likes some hippy shit, but he also feels the funk and the hip hop. So i disagree with the bad taste label. My friend has the worst taste ever....Three Doors Down, Kid Rock, Limp Bizkit, Creed, Nickelback. Thats just shit.

Chris V. (Chris V), Friday, 6 June 2003 12:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Blur's Think Tank

Oh, that's it. You taste awful!

kate (kate), Friday, 6 June 2003 12:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Holy shit! Critters Buggin - "Guest", I lurve this. Oh man, great memories of being stoned in college.

Chris V. (Chris V), Friday, 6 June 2003 12:33 (twenty-two years ago)

ok i lied, i have some inner hippie.

Chris V. (Chris V), Friday, 6 June 2003 12:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Hippies taste bad. No teabagging for hippies!

kate (kate), Friday, 6 June 2003 12:35 (twenty-two years ago)

gaz (gaz), Friday, 6 June 2003 12:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 6 June 2003 12:38 (twenty-two years ago)

i like the baldy keyboard dood's soul recoeds

gaz (gaz), Friday, 6 June 2003 12:47 (twenty-two years ago)

nickalicious in biggest desk evah scandal!

I've groused about some of big Nick's tastes in the past, but at least we know what they are, and at least he is the friendliest person in the whole world, and at least he's right 75% of the time, and at least I made another post bigging up my fellow defender of the funk.

Neudonym, Friday, 6 June 2003 13:08 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, i'm sorry, he does.

jess (dubplatestyle), Friday, 6 June 2003 13:30 (twenty-two years ago)

This from the guy who likes Slipknot, ladies and gentlemen! ;-)

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 6 June 2003 13:43 (twenty-two years ago)

slipknot roxx ur all mateless

mark s (mark s), Friday, 6 June 2003 13:45 (twenty-two years ago)

I love the nickalicious, though sometimes out of pity. Sometimes I just want to take him home, give him a blanket, feed him some soup, and make him a mix tape.

Hank Tenbeer (kenan), Friday, 6 June 2003 13:49 (twenty-two years ago)

I like Slipknot, WHY? Is it the masks? Is it the SWING? Nickalicious genuinely loves his music, for which I honour him.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 6 June 2003 13:52 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, i don't get me wrong, i LIKE nick, but i wouldnt want to be in his car for long stretches

(this might be because he has very similar taste to my best friend)

you like slipknot because they are knaves in satans service

jess (dubplatestyle), Friday, 6 June 2003 13:59 (twenty-two years ago)

KNISS?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 6 June 2003 14:00 (twenty-two years ago)

someone else likes Frusciante???

anybody that sings to an eclipsing moon is cool with me.

kephm, Friday, 6 June 2003 14:10 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought Anthony Miccio was the current lead in the "worst taste on ILM" race because of limpbisquick being his fave band.

Lord Custos Epsilon (Lord Custos Epsilon), Friday, 6 June 2003 14:21 (twenty-two years ago)

but whaddabout bright clashing plaids??

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Friday, 6 June 2003 15:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Flannel is so grunge-retro, it'll be back in style any day now.

yep...anyyyy dayyyy now....(checks watch)

c'mon jess. you have the taste of a 14 yr old girl on your way home from a bright eyes concert.

chaki (chaki), Friday, 6 June 2003 17:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Nick likes buckethead?

You are a good human being, Nick.

David Allen, Friday, 6 June 2003 17:21 (twenty-two years ago)

c'mon jess. you have the taste of a 14 yr old girl on your way home from a bright eyes concert.

(pssst, Chaki, not too sure you should be admitting to tasting underagers, there.. much less tasting jess)

donut bitch (donut), Friday, 6 June 2003 17:27 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll stick up for Nickalicious - us funk fans have to stick together! And Buckethead has done some good stuff (altho I can't stand anything with Les Claypool, even if it does include Bernie Worrel, Brain, or DJ Disk all of whom I love.)

Shakey Mo Collier, Friday, 6 June 2003 17:27 (twenty-two years ago)

db, i cant help it im the r kelly of ilxors.

chaki (chaki), Friday, 6 June 2003 17:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Gary Glitter and Pete Townshend to thread!

Lord Custos Epsilon (Lord Custos Epsilon), Friday, 6 June 2003 17:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Nickalicious has great taste! Doesn't he like Rahsaan Roland Kirk? I'm on disc 3 of the 11-CD box set right now. I was just listening to System Of a Down before this in fact. Medeski, Martin, and Wood have excellent moments as well. And he likes Bitches Brew. And ODB and Goodie Mob - what's to argue about with that? Peter Gabriel has definite moments too. And he likes Soundgarden and Smashing Pumpkins. That Talking Heads thing does throw me a bit though but no one's perfect. It's not like he hates jazz and thinks the world revolves around English guys mumbling shit under crappy distortion in 4/4 time;)

sundar subramanian (sundar), Friday, 6 June 2003 18:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Floating like a smoke ring
It cannot be regained
Now it's touched, it's broken
The taste just slips away
The taste just slips away
I just want to know
I don't want to tell you
What you want to know
I don't want to tell you
As hard as right can be
It can feel so wrong
Too much to leave
Now it's all gone wrong
But what's right or wrong?
I don't know
The taste just slips away

Kingfish (Kingfish), Friday, 6 June 2003 18:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Ah, 1991. You bring back the memories, you do.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 6 June 2003 20:17 (twenty-two years ago)

I think i'ma play that song on my radio show tonight...

Kingfish (Kingfish), Friday, 6 June 2003 20:59 (twenty-two years ago)

three months pass...
i forgot about "knaves in satan's service"

gabbo giftington (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 16 September 2003 18:03 (twenty-two years ago)

How did I know before clicking that it was you who resurrected this thread?

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 16 September 2003 18:06 (twenty-two years ago)

hey, you linked to it!

gabbo giftington (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 16 September 2003 18:07 (twenty-two years ago)

;-)

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 16 September 2003 18:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Why did no one notice that Momus actually said something true on this thread?

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 16 September 2003 18:09 (twenty-two years ago)

even a stopped watch is right twice a day, ally.

gabbo giftington (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 16 September 2003 18:11 (twenty-two years ago)

unless it's a digital, and then it's "found art."

gabbo giftington (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 16 September 2003 18:11 (twenty-two years ago)

That post actually just made my day.

This makes it more:

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 16 September 2003 18:16 (twenty-two years ago)

a stopped digital watch doesn't tell time at all, there's no numbers on the display, you silly!

M Matos (M Matos), Tuesday, 16 September 2003 18:17 (twenty-two years ago)

right, that's why it communicates the ennui of our troubled times etc etc!xzzzzzzzzzzz

gabbo giftington (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 16 September 2003 18:18 (twenty-two years ago)

ha ha ha I don't think I can't laugh at sentences containing the word "ennui" anymore thanks to you!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 16 September 2003 18:20 (twenty-two years ago)

er, can't not laugh...

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 16 September 2003 18:20 (twenty-two years ago)

D'oh I think the first one was right...I'm such a dunbass sometimes.

for 'sometimes' read 'permanently'

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 16 September 2003 18:22 (twenty-two years ago)

So, anyway, digital watches.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 16 September 2003 18:23 (twenty-two years ago)

my beloved, seemingly indestructibibble g-shock finally bit the dust a few months ago.

gabbo giftington (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 16 September 2003 18:25 (twenty-two years ago)

digital swatches

Jordan (Jordan), Tuesday, 16 September 2003 18:28 (twenty-two years ago)

I still think that nick
has 75 per cent
good taste. that's a lot!

Haikunym (Haikunym), Tuesday, 16 September 2003 18:29 (twenty-two years ago)

What i dig is that the nickalish doesn't dictate, he conversates -- and you all should recapitulate.

christoff (christoff), Tuesday, 16 September 2003 20:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Nickalicious is obviosuly a top man and were he ever in England I would rejoice in buying him a pint and chewing the fat with him.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 16 September 2003 20:36 (twenty-two years ago)

who started this fucking thread?? !

Vic (Vic), Tuesday, 16 September 2003 20:54 (twenty-two years ago)

What's nick's taste in watches, though?

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Tuesday, 16 September 2003 20:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Nickalicious is obviosuly a top man and were he ever in England I would rejoice in buying him a pint and chewing the fat with him.

Hey!!!

The Fat (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 16 September 2003 20:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Perry, for fuck's sake get some air or something!

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 16 September 2003 21:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I hope that Julio some day comes to regret his over-hasty dismissal of Weather 'fucking' Report on this thread (tho' yeah, 'Black Market' is a bit lameo)

Andrew L (Andrew L), Tuesday, 16 September 2003 21:12 (twenty-two years ago)

my beloved, seemingly indestructibibble g-shock finally bit the dust a few months ago.

ha i got one of these for my bar mitvah and wore it for like 10 years before my mom finally forced me into wearing something more 'stylish' by hiding it. It was like twice as big as my wrist and I'm pretty sure it could deflect bullets.

bnw (bnw), Tuesday, 16 September 2003 21:22 (twenty-two years ago)

for me his taste = 90% good, 100% boring... But this thread confuses me -- are there non-Geir people who go around saying they dislike funk? And by funk do they mean P-Funk, Prince and Outkast?

Sonny A. (Keiko), Tuesday, 16 September 2003 21:52 (twenty-two years ago)

It's also worth mentioning that Nickalicious, like myself, really really likes Talking Heads. But that doesn't even excite me about myself.

Sonny A. (Keiko), Tuesday, 16 September 2003 21:53 (twenty-two years ago)
