those typical origin unknown tech-blares sound like happy hardcore!

jess (dubplatestyle), Friday, 6 June 2003 15:45 (twenty-two years ago)

is the return of mc'ing and pop vocals all it took to get me interested in drum&bass again?

jess (dubplatestyle), Friday, 6 June 2003 15:47 (twenty-two years ago)

IT WAS ALL IT WOULD HAVE TOOK TO KEPT ME INTERESTED IN THE FIRST PLACE! Is the new Shy FX any good?

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Friday, 6 June 2003 15:58 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, don't get me twisted: it's the same one-bar beat loop. but that vocal hook is undeniable.

the album from last year, alex? it's okay, but i cant listen to it all the way through...still a little too monochrome.

jess (dubplatestyle), Friday, 6 June 2003 16:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Was it from last year? It's the T-Power one with the cartoon cover art. I just saw it really recently for the first time.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Friday, 6 June 2003 16:06 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, last year. the singles are all great, the album so-so.

jess (dubplatestyle), Friday, 6 June 2003 16:08 (twenty-two years ago)

dj marky's 2002 mix cd is pretty good too, but it gets a little too tech-y and same-y in the middle

jess (dubplatestyle), Friday, 6 June 2003 16:09 (twenty-two years ago)

i love it on the marky CD when ed rush & optical's 'kerbcrawler' comes in...

anyone ever see the total science mix of 'jazz note' on vinyl? love dat...

martin (martin), Saturday, 7 June 2003 09:12 (twenty-two years ago)

the only dnb track i've heard recently (and i've not heard many) that's really impressed me is black rain - tonight

microdnb!

disco stu (disco stu), Saturday, 7 June 2003 13:30 (twenty-two years ago)

more people need to hear this, i think. it's big and dumb and obvious, but F-U-N and when's the last time you used that in conjunction with dnb

jess (dubplatestyle), Saturday, 7 June 2003 14:08 (twenty-two years ago)

isnt Dillinja's 'Tear It Out' fun?

stevem (blueski), Saturday, 7 June 2003 14:10 (twenty-two years ago)

does it have vocals or just that incontinent old man robot fart bass thing he does now instead of being interesting?

jess (dubplatestyle), Saturday, 7 June 2003 14:18 (twenty-two years ago)

a little from column a and a little from column b

stevem (blueski), Saturday, 7 June 2003 14:22 (twenty-two years ago)

i have to admit i really loved that "ruff neck sound" remix he did

jess (dubplatestyle), Saturday, 7 June 2003 14:31 (twenty-two years ago)

to be honest i'm not that into the new Dillinja stuff anyway (actually preferred his darker moodier stuff) and just downloaded a load of stuff from old Goldie mix compilations so i seem to heading back the other way from you at this point - of course its unlikely i will listen to much of the stuff tho anyway

stevem (blueski), Saturday, 7 June 2003 15:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Link for download, jess?

Cozen (Cozen), Saturday, 7 June 2003 16:14 (twenty-two years ago)

On a semi-related note, has anyone heard any of the new Ed Rush & Optical album (Original Dr. Shade or something like that)? I heard on some board or another that it was an improvement over The Creeps, which I found pretty uninspired, though I have yet to hear this seconded in an actual review. Reactions?

Sean Thomas (sgthomas), Saturday, 7 June 2003 17:59 (twenty-two years ago)

i found it on slsk cozen...it seems to be floating around quite a bit, although my copy seems to have been taped off of 1xtra

jess (dubplatestyle), Saturday, 7 June 2003 19:44 (twenty-two years ago)

I am going nowhere near my computer's dark Unix underbelly with the pySoulseek scalpel, no sir! I will hunt this down though.

(I'm doing pretty well this week for music: Total 4, Immer, Vocalcity, New Gold Dream, and almost everything enticing off Gabba).

Mac Using Cozen (Cozen), Saturday, 7 June 2003 19:54 (twenty-two years ago)

if i can find room, i'll upload it.
