Everything from the other thread. Probably did an imperfect job of weeding out the jokes and sarcastic entries -- when in doubt I left things in. Anyway, it's down to 7 pages (from 85). If I'd thought of it I would have kept track of how many nominations each item received (among the most mentioned: Cat Power, Manitoba, New Pornographers, Rapture, White Stripes).

Maybe new "top 5" lists should get posted in the other thread, or in a new one, rather than here.

Paul in Santa Cruz (Paul in Santa Cruz), Sunday, 8 June 2003 17:58 (twenty-two years ago)

(Everything came from Top 5 albums of 2003 so far not from other similar threads like Chuck's "Things I Like so Far" lists)

Paul in Santa Cruz (Paul in Santa Cruz), Sunday, 8 June 2003 18:01 (twenty-two years ago)

very early going yet, but the acclaimed music calculator renders 2003 thus.

James Blount (James Blount), Sunday, 8 June 2003 18:03 (twenty-two years ago)

right now I think White Stripes take Pazz & Jopp easy

James Blount (James Blount), Sunday, 8 June 2003 18:05 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, i cant really see anything else close to a "consensus" pick

"how the west was won" at at least #3

jess (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 8 June 2003 18:10 (twenty-two years ago)

the wildcard is the Outkast album (and maaaybe the Strokes album)

James Blount (James Blount), Sunday, 8 June 2003 18:15 (twenty-two years ago)

my favourite is probably Zwan.

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 8 June 2003 18:15 (twenty-two years ago)

dizzee probably outside the top 10 (but then again i woulda said the same thing about the streets)

jess (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 8 June 2003 18:16 (twenty-two years ago)

I DID say the same thing about the Streets! (and still owe Matos a mix cd-r over it)

James Blount (James Blount), Sunday, 8 June 2003 18:18 (twenty-two years ago)

we really need a new prince, stat

jess (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 8 June 2003 18:20 (twenty-two years ago)

wishing for a new Prince is like wishing for a new Sinatra - that line's been ruptured (the downside of revolutions)

James Blount (James Blount), Sunday, 8 June 2003 18:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Which revolution, though? And was it really one?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 8 June 2003 18:40 (twenty-two years ago)

la bella mafia
attenCHUN!!
s carter mixtape
the diplomats album
get rich or die tryin
eastern conference allstars iii
cradle 2 the grave soundtrack
ministry of sound 21st century disco 2003

god i like singles so much more than albums!!!

trife (simon_tr), Sunday, 8 June 2003 19:10 (twenty-two years ago)

prince rendered last of a line by hip-hop as sinatra was by rock n roll

James Blount (James Blount), Sunday, 8 June 2003 20:10 (twenty-two years ago)

render render render

James Blount (James Blount), Sunday, 8 June 2003 20:11 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought Lightning Bolt was pretty much the ILM consensus so far

ss, Sunday, 8 June 2003 20:19 (twenty-two years ago)

hardly!

James Blount (James Blount), Sunday, 8 June 2003 20:20 (twenty-two years ago)

ilm consensus so far probably either the rapture or luomo with electric six on the inside rail

James Blount (James Blount), Sunday, 8 June 2003 20:22 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm beggining to think that making lists is not only boring but is actually a mental disease.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Sunday, 8 June 2003 20:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Obviously some sort of x-step program would be out of the question. Even when someone says "just STOP IT!!!" I can't help but picture a 1 in front of that direction. It's a hopeless situation...

Andy K (Andy K), Sunday, 8 June 2003 20:59 (twenty-two years ago)

You could have the parts of your brain that primarily deal with numbers removed. It would be risky, but there aren't any other options.

Rockist Scientist, Sunday, 8 June 2003 21:03 (twenty-two years ago)

ilm consensus is such bullshit!! i kinda wanna hear luomo i guess but why bother when you can listen to real house

trife (simon_tr), Sunday, 8 June 2003 21:58 (twenty-two years ago)

I love that Celine Dion, Borbetmagus, the Detroit Experiment and Varttina are on this list.

What about Saturday Looks Good To Me's ALL YOUR SUMMER SONGS, have any other ILXors heard that album? My current obsession!

Jeff Sumner (Jeff Sumner), Sunday, 8 June 2003 22:01 (twenty-two years ago)

I like the one album by that band. With the songs.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 8 June 2003 22:09 (twenty-two years ago)

You're obviously a 12 CD person.

Rockist Scientist, Sunday, 8 June 2003 22:12 (twenty-two years ago)

ned youre thinking of r kelly - chocolate factory

trife (simon_tr), Sunday, 8 June 2003 22:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh right.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 8 June 2003 22:15 (twenty-two years ago)

"ilm consensus is such bullshit!! i kinda wanna hear luomo i guess but why bother when you can listen to real house"

But Trife the new Luomo album *is* real house.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Monday, 9 June 2003 00:26 (twenty-two years ago)

and ping goes the sound of logic against the faux-naif shell

jess (dubplatestyle), Monday, 9 June 2003 00:27 (twenty-two years ago)

no its real naif i havent heard the fucking thing!! i dont understand the overall concept of 'microhouse', why make big sounds tiny?? i do like herbert though, anyway i said i wanted to hear luomo!!

trife (simon_tr), Monday, 9 June 2003 00:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Because Fieros are better than SUVs

Andy K (Andy K), Monday, 9 June 2003 01:36 (twenty-two years ago)

I refuse to go along with any "best of" consensus that doesn't have the Dandy Warhols on it.

kate (kate), Monday, 9 June 2003 09:02 (twenty-two years ago)

All I is saying is hold your horses for National Forest. (Oh yeah, and the Shirokuma album obviously).

Lynskey (Lynskey), Monday, 9 June 2003 12:10 (twenty-two years ago)

one month passes...
that electric six album is such shite. two novelty singles do not a full-length make, esp if the non-novelty-single portion of that record sounds like a fucking extended chevrolet ad remix

maura (maura), Thursday, 10 July 2003 03:14 (twenty-two years ago)

prince has a new album out its called N.E.W.S.

chaki (chaki), Thursday, 10 July 2003 05:31 (twenty-two years ago)

"Synthesizer" on the Electric Six record has had some surprising converts...

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 10 July 2003 06:06 (twenty-two years ago)

'elephant' is the least interesting first listen i've had in ages

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Thursday, 10 July 2003 08:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Maura I wonder if you would like The Darkness album!

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Thursday, 10 July 2003 08:51 (twenty-two years ago)

"Synthesizer" on the Electric Six record has had some surprising converts...

Quite true. So they should only do stuff like THAT instead.

prince has a new album out its called N.E.W.S.

Only available through the website or...?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 10 July 2003 14:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Luomo seems the most over-rated album of the year to me - not heard it all yet tho

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 10 July 2003 14:49 (twenty-two years ago)

is !!!'s new one really an album, though? it's great, but....

Raymond Cummings (Raymond Cummings), Thursday, 10 July 2003 14:50 (twenty-two years ago)

2 songs - about 13 minutes..

bill stevens (bscrubbins), Thursday, 10 July 2003 23:02 (twenty-two years ago)
