David Mamet's wife. I picked up her The New York Girls' Club on a whim the other day. Maybe a bit too mellow, but polished. Her melody lines remind me of Joni Mitchell...

Is her other album like this?

Haven't heard her, but I can only hope she sings better than she acts.

I've only heard her singing at the end of a Mamet film. Frankly, I don't want to listen to anything that would kill my sweet fantasy that she's actually a vulcan.

Mamet's got a thing about authority and status, all his lovers are these severe personalities

Ah, sweet mistress, so stern and so teutonic.

I didn't realise she did music as well. I mainly know her from her roles in David Mamet films. Is her singing as mannered as her acting?

it would be funny if she only sung songs like "Moses Supposes."

No, I think she sounds a lot looser as a singer than as an actress (though, I have to admit, I'm inthe minority in liking her style of acting, too). The album has a very squeaky-clean/high production sound to it, though. The last track she pairs up "Auld Lang Syne" with Sam Cooke's "Bring It On Home to Me"; odd mix, and not nearly in the same league as Sam vocally, of course, but I still like the combo...

How did she develop a musical career? Mamet doesn't own a record label.
