I'm in it for the chicks

Travis Angel (Travis Angel), Monday, 9 June 2003 13:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah I've got loads of wet from telling girls i'm a daily ilm poster.

ss, Monday, 9 June 2003 13:32 (twenty-two years ago)

I turned off the computer. I went to the park. I sat and cried. I turned around and came back to work. There is STILL nothing for me to do here. So I inarticulately rage against people's misunderstandings of my inarticulateness.

kate (kate), Monday, 9 June 2003 13:32 (twenty-two years ago)

I like Nelly

Travis Angel (Travis Angel), Monday, 9 June 2003 13:33 (twenty-two years ago)

because Mr. Currie's posts are funny.

Kingfish (Kingfish), Monday, 9 June 2003 13:34 (twenty-two years ago)

I dunno. My mate Mary pointed me here and said "post your Starsailor diatribe", so I did. Dived right in, as such. No point lurking!

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Monday, 9 June 2003 13:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Because I love music and talking about music with the kind of people I work with =

Coworker: So you're into music, right?
Me: Yeah.
Coworker: So did you see what J Lo was wearing last night?
Me: Ugh.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 9 June 2003 14:22 (twenty-two years ago)

nickalicious dont leave me hanging....what was she wearing???

james (james), Monday, 9 June 2003 14:36 (twenty-two years ago)

James Blount (James Blount), Monday, 9 June 2003 14:38 (twenty-two years ago)

she wore a big ass...next question

stevem (blueski), Monday, 9 June 2003 14:40 (twenty-two years ago)

In addition to her own already elephantine posterior? She sported an auxiliary ass?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 9 June 2003 14:48 (twenty-two years ago)

christ i thought it was natural but now it would appear she is addicted to growing her ass to monsterous proportions

james (james), Monday, 9 June 2003 14:49 (twenty-two years ago)

asszilla

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 9 June 2003 14:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 9 June 2003 15:00 (twenty-two years ago)

james (james), Monday, 9 June 2003 15:02 (twenty-two years ago)

force of habit and boredom at work.

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Monday, 9 June 2003 15:20 (twenty-two years ago)

the level of high quality discourse as evidenced by this thread and others

jess (dubplatestyle), Monday, 9 June 2003 15:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Jess is right. How could such original and inspired thought such as the ones expressed on this thread go unremarked upon? I mean, really.

Nicole (Nicole), Monday, 9 June 2003 17:48 (twenty-two years ago)

..."an ILM poster"? ...a poster? ...a rectangular 2D thingy that some folx would, p'haps, put on their ...er, virtual walls, like?!

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Monday, 9 June 2003 22:18 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd love to see an ILX advertising poster, actually.

Christine 'Green Leafy Dragon' Indigo (cindigo), Monday, 9 June 2003 23:59 (twenty-two years ago)

shits and giggles.

Lord Custos Epsilon (Lord Custos Epsilon), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 01:06 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought we hated fun!

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Tuesday, 10 June 2003 01:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Au Contraire. ILM assigns the post of "Official FUN-Hater" to random ILM posters at regular intervals.

Lord Custos Epsilon (Lord Custos Epsilon), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 01:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Obviously the only reason to be an ILM poster is that so you can post on every thread how crap you think it is and how much better it was a year ago. Not that we said anything different a year ago!

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 01:37 (twenty-two years ago)

a YEAR ago Ally? C'mon it all went downhill from the "Help Tom Like Emo" thread back in 2000.

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 01:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Nah. Started to suck right after it moved to the Greenspun server.

Lord Custos Epsilon (Lord Custos Epsilon), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 01:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Serious answer:

Why I'd prefer posting on ILM to writing about music for another outlet: feedback.

Sometimes I'd prefer to know that one person had definitely read what I wrote than to have the possibility that thousands have.

I prefer two way communication.

mei (mei), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 07:25 (twenty-two years ago)

bcz I want to talk abt the music i like with others, as well as finding out abt other types of music as well.

oh, scrap that: its bcz i can neither write abt it or play it.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 07:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Nail, meet Mei. Mei, meet nail. On the melonfarming head!

It's all about the feedback. 50,000 could read the greatest article that you had ever written, and you'd never know about it, except for the little joy of seeing your byline on the piece. If you write something as simple as "Band X: Classic or Classic?" and two people write back "Oh yeah, classic!" it is infinitely more gratifying and validating.

kate (kate), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 08:08 (twenty-two years ago)

And by directly replying to my post you've brought a smile to my face and proved my point.

mei (mei), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 08:10 (twenty-two years ago)

i would post custos' poster upthread on the posts that made you laugh out loud thread if i knew how
but since i can't,i'll just say nice work

robin (robin), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 12:28 (twenty-two years ago)

(to robin: I hereby publicly encourage you to steal the source code. If you copy and paste the code into a text file, you can save it for later...and, when apropriate...paste it into another thread.
To get the source:
In IE View > Source
In Mozilla View > Page Source (or Cntrl+U) )

(and the beauty of that poster post is that it *exactly* fills the screen in Mozilla at 1024x768.)

Lord Custos Epsilon (Lord Custos Epsilon), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 13:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Because I can count the number of people I know personally who have any interest in the kind of music that I like on one hand.

I read a lot more than I post because I am fascinated by other people's opinions, regardless of whether or not I agree, and because I don't feel confident enough to share mine/get into an argument I don't have time to keep going (I can't post here as I work because my internet usage is monitored here).

Raymond Cummings (Raymond Cummings), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 14:34 (twenty-two years ago)

ditto
