So I heard a couple of Mp3s from this band, and was completely blown away... Christ.. this hits all the Trumans, Antioch, Terminal Cheesecake, Butts spots just right.

As a latecomer, what should I go out immediately buy, because I'm ready... (they're playing tomorrow in town here... woohoo!)

ha donut bitch, doom-e to thread - doom-e was raving about this band yonks ago !

DJ Martian (djmartian), Monday, 9 June 2003 20:05 (twenty-two years ago)

The split w/ Mara'akate is good.

Jon Williams (ex machina), Monday, 9 June 2003 20:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, Doom-e fucking called it yo.. I can't remember the last time discovering a band new to me made my jaw drop.

donut bitch (donut), Monday, 9 June 2003 20:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Satan's Kickin' Yr Dick In is the best "boy makes a deal with the devil to become a superstar diva" hardcore rock opera ever. Probably a good place to start.

fffv (fffv), Monday, 9 June 2003 20:29 (twenty-two years ago)

nah. the one before that - in the grips of light - with the captain beefheart cover - is the one to search out - feels like you've done all the anti-psychotics in your mothers cupboard and you are gruff/grimey walking down the street at five in the morning.

i love racebannon.

possibly the loudest band in the world.

doom-e, Monday, 9 June 2003 21:41 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm glad to see they are getting some attention, as they have been around for a long time. I saw them play a couple of times a long time ago (they were freakin' young), but still haven't heard one of their records as all of this as happened since I left Indiana.

earlnash, Monday, 9 June 2003 21:50 (twenty-two years ago)

These descriptions are all of interest, I have to say. Hmm...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 01:29 (twenty-two years ago)

their side project, Rapider Than Horsepower, is also worth a listen. less loud but just as mental.

david mc, Tuesday, 10 June 2003 01:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Them! Chuck Eddy mentioned them and they seemed like some little twee whisper band.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 02:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Search their cover of Beefheart's 'Electricity', definitely. Like Doomie, I much prefer 'In The Grips...' to 'Satan's Kicking Yr Dick In'. I reckon that's probably the one to get first.

Jason J, Tuesday, 10 June 2003 09:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Just got back from their show....

DEFINITELY Top 5 loudest show I attended.... possible Top 3. And I've attended some really, really loud shows in the past.

I can't see how even Masonna or Borbetomagus could follow this band on a bill.

donut bitch (donut), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 07:39 (twenty-two years ago)

i second Rapider Than Horsepower as a killer band - search Stage Fright My Big Night. and all the Racebannon i've heard is great

roger adultery (roger adultery), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 07:56 (twenty-two years ago)

ok i need to check this band out

gareth (gareth), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 09:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Here are some Mp3s of the Level Plane records site... "Electricity" is the Captain Beefheart cover..

"Lingers In Her Lungs"
"Electricty" (orig. by Beefheart)
"Yr Test Scores Speak For Themselves"

The Secretly Canadian label might have Mp3s, too...

The newer stuff sounds really heavy, with more bottom... more like VSS/Antioch Arrow "gems of masochism" terrority, but much much louder.

donut bitch (donut), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 14:48 (twenty-two years ago)

six months pass...
Finally saw Rapider Than Horsepower live last night and they were great. Picked up the new split single with Sheryl's Magnetic Aura (who opened) and both sides RULE. I highly recommend picking up everything they've done.

WARNING! some friends commented that it was too "groovalicious' for them, and I admit at first they sounded like funk metal to me too - but give it a chance and you'll be blown away

still don't own a single Racebannon record but that'll change soon - i'm just wary of any band with a 'DJ'

roger adultery (roger adultery), Wednesday, 31 December 2003 03:25 (twenty-two years ago)

i bought "satan's kickin' yer dick in" for 2 bucks. it's good, i guess - i like the kind of whiny vocals and some of the more 'freaked out' bits, but it's not as exciting as everyone's making out. i'll have to check out the album before that.

el sabor de gene (yournullfame), Wednesday, 31 December 2003 04:29 (twenty-two years ago)

two years pass...
dude mentioned he'd heard the new album on the serial killer thread, i'm real excited... THe songs sound sooooo great live, but as far as i know there's no label for it yet ? ANTICIPATION!!!!

ghost dong (Sonny A.), Tuesday, 16 May 2006 14:14 (nineteen years ago)

Oooh i didn't know there was a new one coming. I still need to pick up that double disc of singles and rarities.

Brigadier Lethbridge-Pfunkboy (Kerr), Tuesday, 16 May 2006 15:28 (nineteen years ago)

ANTICIPATION!!

Would the man who's heard it like to step forward and tell us about it? What is the production like?

ghost dong (Sonny A.), Wednesday, 17 May 2006 12:59 (nineteen years ago)

one year passes...

New album has leaked. Anyone heard it yet? Been looking forward to this for AGES.

Herman G. Neuname, Wednesday, 4 July 2007 14:25 (eighteen years ago)

and I still haven't picked up that double disc of singles and rarities.

Herman G. Neuname, Wednesday, 4 July 2007 14:26 (eighteen years ago)

five months pass...

I still like Racebannon.

scott seward, Saturday, 29 December 2007 00:36 (eighteen years ago)

More than Lickgoldensky.

scott seward, Saturday, 29 December 2007 00:37 (eighteen years ago)

Das Oath might be my fave spazzcore band.

scott seward, Saturday, 29 December 2007 00:39 (eighteen years ago)

At the moment.

scott seward, Saturday, 29 December 2007 00:39 (eighteen years ago)

And I liked the last Locust album just fine.

scott seward, Saturday, 29 December 2007 00:40 (eighteen years ago)

Even though everyone seems to be "over" them.

scott seward, Saturday, 29 December 2007 00:40 (eighteen years ago)

They went from five fans to one. Twenty percent rentention over four -five years ain't bad.

Gorge, Saturday, 29 December 2007 03:07 (eighteen years ago)

will it hit my butts spots

strgn, Saturday, 29 December 2007 04:35 (eighteen years ago)

whenever i re-read the thread title, the "Baby Got Back" intro enters my head and never leaves.

Mackro Mackro, Saturday, 29 December 2007 05:05 (eighteen years ago)

eight months pass...

ACID OR BLOOD

I'm really liking this. Musically, it's a shift. Less wall-of-rowr, although still loud. More "friendly"?

Mackro Mackro, Friday, 12 September 2008 07:35 (seventeen years ago)

Was supposed to be putting this band on in a fortnight but they cancelled their UK tour cos they would have lost too much money. Probably not stepping up a level anytime soon, in other words

The Slash My Father Wrote (DJ Mencap), Friday, 12 September 2008 07:46 (seventeen years ago)

I cannot handle that cover.

BigLurks, Friday, 12 September 2008 14:02 (seventeen years ago)

For about eight seconds I was completely convinced that was an eyeball on a buttcheek.

RabiesAngentleman, Friday, 12 September 2008 14:42 (seventeen years ago)
