How to buy tickets for Holland, from Wales?

I'm going for a little rail trip round bits of Europe in July and I've noticed that this juicy gig coincides with me being in Amsterdam:

Voorstelling: TOMAHAWK / MELVINS
Datum: ma 14 jul 2003
Tijd: 21:00
Zaal: Melkweg The Max, AMSTERDAM

Any idea how I can buy or reserve tickets before I go?

They're available from here:

https://tickets.lvp.nl/nl/res.php?vn=7746&origin=78

but I'm so far from being able to speak the language I don't even know what it's called!

Melkweg = Milky Way, a pretty cool venue in Amsterdam. My Dutch is apalling, but I'll try to look at the site and check it out.

Ah, now I've learned how to say "Page has expired. TURN BACK YOU POXY FULE!" in Dutch, which I never knew before!

Ticket Service online reservations

Their site is very strange but here is ticketing in English:

http://www.melkweg.nl/tickets.htm

They say that reservations are not available, but that's bullshit as I've had tickets for the place before. And Dutch venues operate on that weird thing whereby you have to buy a membership before you can go to some of the gigs, but it's pretty easy to get a temporary one, IIRC.

if you follow Siegbran's link and click the UnionJack or Stars'nBars you should have no problem ordering the tickets. Make sure you do so at least two weeks in advance! If somehow that doesn't work try to call the AUB Ticketshop at: +31-206211288
Hope it works out & have fun! (r u going bcz. of Tomahawk or the Melvins?)

Yeah, the membership thing is slightly weird, but you could also see it as a discount for frequent visitors. Or something. I'm seeing Grandaddy in the Melkweg the 25th, yay.

ILM is unbelievabley super great.
It's like being part of a borg collective.

Kate can speak Dutch and it sounds like you've even been there!

I tried the links Kate and Siegbran gave and they both lead to the same place, then I clicked on the union jack and bingo.

5 tickets coming my way despite one "invalid syncid" error and the actual CC processing being in Dutch.

Willem, I'd go for either of the bands but as it's both that's a huge bonus.

I don't do drugs myself but I know there's a very liberal attitude in Amsterdam, will there be a thousand people monged out to the Melvins, so I can get a great view?

Don't ask me, I tend to do boring things like look at museums and architecture. (The Cube-Houses in Rotterdam, however, are totally worth it, even if you have less than a casual interest in architecture.) They had an excellent exhibit on Japanese erotic woodcuts at the Van Gogh museum the last time I was there!

I can't stand drugs, but my god, Dutch beer is incredible.

Oh, and Get Records in Amsterdam, worth a trip from, well, anywhere in Holland.

Here's a thread with good record stores in Utrecht, Amsterdam and Rotterdam. It's in Dutch, but you can probably figure it out. I recommend Get Records and especially Concerto (both in the Utrechtsestraat).
