"There are more love songs than anything else. If songs could make you do something we'd all love one another." - Frank Zappa

Time to do some weeding ..So pick only ten to keep for posterity.

if songs could make you do something...

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 11:48 (twenty-two years ago)

The problem with Zappa's logic is that most songs advocate *falling in love* rather than loving. Falling in love is something to be avoided at all costs. Hah!

kate (kate), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 11:53 (twenty-two years ago)

songs should only be about anal sex from now on

Are we talking about songs about falling in love or lovin'?

Anyway my top 10 love related songs in no order, I tried to choose only 1 per artist for variety (which was pretty difficult in the case of dylan, oldham, young, presley, smokey, heck pretty much all of them, those guys got a lot of love songs that i like). I couldn't really live with only 10 love songs in my life I guess.

1. smokey robinson & the miracles - tracks of my tears
2. bob dylan - buckets of rain
3. palace brothers - i send my love to you
4. neil young - only love can break your heart
5. elvis presley - love me tender
6. dirty three - deep waters (i know theres no words, but this has got to be a love song)
7. the smiths - reel around the fountain (this ones a bit ominous too, but it
8. henry thomas - lovin' babe (sort of a "pallet on the floor" varient)
9. my bloody valentine - feed me with your kiss
10. the band - up on cripple creek

Is that the one that says, "It's not my fault you don't love me when I'm drunk"? Cause that's the most brilliant lyric of last year.
