I'm swearing off ILM for awhile - can't handle the logistical beatdowns. Have a good summer.

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 13:15 (twenty-two years ago)

(just posting this so I stick to it)

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 13:19 (twenty-two years ago)

but then you'll come back and check people's reactions and want to respond so it's really not a good plan for taking a break, is it?

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 13:20 (twenty-two years ago)

It makes me sad when posters take breaks (unless that poster is a troll which yer obviously not, Fritz) but I would warn that the only real way to break the habit is to have yourself banned.

(Mind you, not that that worked. I had myself banned from ILE and now I'm top of the statscock on ILM to compensate.)

kate (kate), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 13:22 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't understand what's wrong with the "logistical beatdown" thread! all that stuff seems to me like some of the healthiest, most open, most community-forming stuff we've done in an age

J0hn Darn1elle (J0hn Darn1elle), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 13:33 (twenty-two years ago)

that's delusional, john. it's just really, really stupid & nerdy.

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 13:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Well you come back sometime, we need all the cancon we can muster here.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 13:43 (twenty-two years ago)

I disagree Fritz! but I can feel how annoying it's been to you, sorry to have been a cause of annoyance

J0hn Darn1elle (J0hn Darn1elle), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 13:46 (twenty-two years ago)

I haven't looked in the logistical breakdown thread - should I?

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 13:47 (twenty-two years ago)

It's very funny in spots.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 13:51 (twenty-two years ago)

you should! its entertaining stuff.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 13:52 (twenty-two years ago)

The key words are 'in spots.'

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 13:53 (twenty-two years ago)

But Fritz, it's easy not to read those posts. Pick and choose. When a user's name is mentioned in the thread name, caveat inspector. Course, summertime is a nice time to be outside...

arch Ibog (arch Ibog), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 13:58 (twenty-two years ago)

sorry, it's 90% headspinningly dumb - as is everything custos has ever brought to the board.

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 13:58 (twenty-two years ago)

anyway, it's not really just custos's dimwittededness that's driving me out - it's just summer and I'm gone. like last year. have fun. don't wreck the place. bye.

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 14:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Replace "Custos" with "anyone" and you'd have a more accurate sentence.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 14:02 (twenty-two years ago)

replace ''custos'' with ''julio'' bcz i did 'something or other' last year.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 14:04 (twenty-two years ago)

julio and i worked that out within a day - custos is a different story

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 14:06 (twenty-two years ago)

fuck it - jess or someone pls delete this thread.

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 14:07 (twenty-two years ago)

you'll be back i'm sure. take care.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 14:08 (twenty-two years ago)

julio and i worked that out within a day - custos is a different story
I'd be willing to peacefully work out our differences (off-line)...I'm not a bad person if you really got to know me, Fritz.
(I'll admit my custos persona is a bit brusque....anonymity gives one courage.)

Lord Custos Epsilon (Lord Custos Epsilon), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 14:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Fritz is the Snufkin of ILM. Have a good summer.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 14:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Wouldn't a better aphorism be "Anonyity makes one a dick"?

(That's not a shot specifically at you, Custos, it's a generalization).

NA. (Nick A.), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 14:14 (twenty-two years ago)

what is snufkin?

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 14:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Wouldn't a better aphorism be "Anonyity makes one a dick"?
Well...yeah. A bit harsh, but plausible.

(That's not a shot specifically at you, Custos, it's a generalization).
Hmph. Well, I'm the king of over-generalization (apparently.)

Lord Custos Epsilon (Lord Custos Epsilon), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 14:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Character in Moomin books who goes off wandering every year, leaving Moominvalley behind. Except I got the season he wanders in wrong.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 14:22 (twenty-two years ago)

bye, moomins!

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 14:27 (twenty-two years ago)

On a related note, I also will be taking a break from ILM. Thank you for your concern and sympathy. Thank you.

J. Hubert Eiason (King Kobra), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 14:53 (twenty-two years ago)

On a related note, I also will be taking a break from ILM. Thank you for your concern and sympathy. Thank you.

Um, who the hell are you?

King Kobra (King Kobra), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 14:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Bye Fritz! I'm away for Euro-land tomorrow so I'll be gone as well, for about a month. I will bring pie!!

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 14:56 (twenty-two years ago)

"He stretched out on his back and looked up into the spring sky. It was a clear dark blue straight above him and sea green over the tree tops. Somewhere under his hat the tune began to move, one part expectation, and two parts spring sadness, and for the rest just a colossal delight at being alone."

Snufkin is the coolest character in Moominland, Fritz. See you when the season comes round and have a nice break.

(Coolest except for Little My obv.)

little my s (mark s), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 15:09 (twenty-two years ago)

I can see why you'd want to take a break Fritz, but you will be missed! Have a good summer. I will miss your picture threads.

Nicole (Nicole), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 15:23 (twenty-two years ago)

B-b-b-but THE MUSKRAT!! (Who is much more ILM-ish anyway)

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 15:43 (twenty-two years ago)

the hemulin = nu-ilm heh (anag)

mark s (mark s), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 16:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I think you meant "nu-ilm, heh ET?"

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 17:00 (twenty-two years ago)

apologies to custos for the outburst above. c: you seem to be a magnet for all my frustrations w/ ILX. nothing personal.

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 20:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Hi Fritz, I'm hardly here at all these days. But I do hope you pop in with at least a picture thread every so often. Take care.

Arthur (Arthur), Thursday, 12 June 2003 02:42 (twenty-two years ago)

seven years pass...

I'm thinking of taking a break as well. The conversations are getting to tense and ego driven to me lately. Hopefully nothing exciting happens in music that I would like to discuss. If I can not post in the Odd Future thread for awhile I can do the same for the website for awhile.

lilsoulbrother, Friday, 6 May 2011 08:28 (fourteen years ago)

To be fair any Odd Future thread or conversation is ripe to be tense and ego driven.
