I just liked the title. But I am kinda sick of seeing his arty fingers all over her promos and DVDs and shit.

mothafuckah!

it's not art, it's commerce.

hstencil, Wednesday, 11 June 2003 15:55 (twenty-two years ago)

is that a gang of four song?

gage o (gage o), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 16:00 (twenty-two years ago)

really, he's been designing her art or something? or do you just detect an influence? b/c i was actually wondering when he was going to start directing her videos proper rather than just serving as an obvious reference point for them.

HEY YOU... GET YOUR... DAMN... HANDS OFF OF HER!

I definitely can detect his influence on the Vespertine - nothing really over the top, but I get the sense that immersion in his aesthetic is part of why that record is so weak.

"weak" hm whatev.

I thought this was a Calum thread.

I definitely can detect his influence on the Vespertine

what is there vaseline all over it?

hstencil, Wednesday, 11 June 2003 17:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I believe he LITERALLY has his hands all over her - funny because I thought he was gay and Bjork, as we all know, is an extra-terrestrial.

Dadaismus (Dada), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 17:37 (twenty-two years ago)

what is there vaseline all over it?

Maybe on the special edition version. I bought the regular retail copy.

The second best song on the album ("Cocoon") is about having sex with Matthew Barney, which kinda wrecks the romantic spirit of the song for me - I just imagine him in full "Entered Apprentice" garb in bed with her, which freaks me out.

Their kid is going to be interesting, I'm sure.

i actually enjoy the offshots of barney's cremaster series--the short films, the books, the installations (yes, with vaseline), the large stills that sat in the Chicago MCA for a while, etc.--better than the movies themselves. so him become bjork's house designer/video director could only be a good thing, i think.

amateurist (amateurist), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 18:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Are they not now married with a child or sommink?

suzy (suzy), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 19:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Maybe now Bjork will do an epic, impenetrable 5-part album cycle about nads!

Tom Breihan (Tom Breihan), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 19:16 (twenty-two years ago)

youd need the help of a buddy for handling the Voice piece on it.

Honda, Wednesday, 11 June 2003 19:22 (twenty-two years ago)

For some reason this thread conjures to mind an imaginary Simpsons episode where little miss Gudmundsdottir falls head-over-heels for Barney Gumbel, he burps, and hilarity ensues.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 19:30 (twenty-two years ago)

ten years pass...

Well, probably literal now.

i remember in the late 90s Michael Kimmelman wrote a profile in the NYT magazine saying he was the greatest living artist. LOL, he's been apologizing for that ever since.
