I own more SCG records than anyone I know, but "Invocation," from this new 2xlp reissue on Eclipse is probably my all time favorite track of theirs. i may never recover from the brain burn. Total fucking bonkers genius. Anyone else heard it??

From Fexposure site:Reissue of the first two cassettes self-released by the band in the late 1980's. These are the earliest Sun City Girls recordings from 1982 & 1983. Featuring a heavy duty gatefold sleeve with archived photos from the time period of the recordings, and some liner notes, this is the first in a series of ten double LP's reissues. Limited, one time pressing of 974 copies."

Unfortunately I am listening to "Crucified" by Army Of Lovers. Sorry, SSGs.

scott seward, Wednesday, 11 June 2003 17:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Horse Cock Phepner ain't that good.

I got a CDR of 'Torch of mystics' that burned (especially the second half of the record). I'll be listening to an SCG tape made by an ILMOLR later.

eh, sun city girls blah blah blah. i'll download it from soulsikh when/if it shows up, though it is apparently rather affordable for a double LP.

your null fame (yournullfame), Wednesday, 11 June 2003 23:12 (twenty-two years ago)

the double lp fucking rocks, is all i have to say, though i wonder if at some point we will all tire of the continual exhumation of countless artists' back catalog? (much of which should prob. stay under the floorboards)

it's probably safe to say that their pre-1990 material is hard to come by, and that it deserves a wider reissue. i just won't bother buying it until i hear it, they're far too hit and miss.

one year passes...
so,... which is best: Eclipse 2LP reissue #2 or #3?
subquestion: how are they different?

i've got some cash to spend...

the cjr radio thing or whatever its called is pretty gd...

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Thursday, 30 September 2004 13:36 (twenty-one years ago)

i skimmed this thread today and someone had posted that they were listening to the geto boys & the guess who, i guess to be funny, and i thought to myself briefly, ha! who's that moron?

scott seward (scott seward), Thursday, 30 September 2004 17:05 (twenty-one years ago)

nine months pass...
vol. 4 is really good.

"folk songs of the rich and evil" is a bunch of hellbent-on-destruction noise/punk toonz.

"exotica on $5 per day" lays the blueprint for a thousand nnck/sunburned/jomf/wwvv/tower recs jams. faux gamelan, meandering tropicalia.
