After coming to the conclusion that I should really fill out my Bowie collection some more, I finally broke down and ~~downloaded~~ acquired Hunky Dory, which has his cover of Biff Rose's "Fill Your Heart" on it. The very same day (today, in fact), an old friend IMed me and said "hey, you know this guy Biff Rose? You're into Van Dyke Parks; you'd dig this."

Tell me more.

I never even realized that it was his song on "Hunky Dory"! It makes sense now. I did download a Biff Rose song with Van Dyke Parks on Moog (in a killer Ice Capades/Datsun commercial mode) called "No Great Day". It's exactly as you could imagine it sounding between the above references. And while I found him working with Cher on "The Harder They Come," I wish I could find VDP on Goldie Hawn's "Pitta Patta".
