Why is it I am listening to Doop's debut album?

I have Junior Senior and Teenage Fanclub with me, but for some reason it's Circus Doop that's in the Discman right this minute... and it really isn't very good, yet for some reason I haven't taken it out yet. Is it actually genius or something?

I hate my life.

This surely is not Doop as in "Doop" by Doop??

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Thursday, 12 June 2003 12:28 (twenty-two years ago)

It surely is. 99p in Croydon yesterday.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Thursday, 12 June 2003 12:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Hats off!

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Thursday, 12 June 2003 12:32 (twenty-two years ago)

So I've switched back to my mix CD now anyway...

Here's some jazz. Here's some happy hardcore. Pop it in the blender, repeat x12 - Zing!

I was handclapping to Reward a second ago. Which, in an office canteen, ain't that advisable a course of action.

Back to work in nine minutes. Sigh.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Thursday, 12 June 2003 12:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Reward? Are you listening to The Teardrop Explodes?

kate (kate), Thursday, 12 June 2003 12:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Track 6 on me CD, yes. doop didn't cover it, but maybe they should have. I could see it working.

It segues damn lovely into Tegan by Sing-Sing, by the way. Which I am nodding to. I should probably bring in something a touch less groovy tomorrow, lest people think i'm odd.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Thursday, 12 June 2003 12:54 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm shoulder-flexing to it now. Four minutes to go. DD Cancels this afternoon. I will contemplate how to get back into CTCL's good books in order to stay awake.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Thursday, 12 June 2003 12:55 (twenty-two years ago)

True Confessions to round off the hour, get some hot chocolate, that'll be another minute gone...

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Thursday, 12 June 2003 12:59 (twenty-two years ago)

And there we go.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Thursday, 12 June 2003 12:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Thanks, I've got those bloody horns stuck in my head.

kate (kate), Thursday, 12 June 2003 13:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Bless my cotton socks.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 12 June 2003 13:49 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm in the news.

kate (kate), Thursday, 12 June 2003 13:51 (twenty-two years ago)

I hate you, Ned. I had finally got it out with a Stooges song.

kate (kate), Thursday, 12 June 2003 13:51 (twenty-two years ago)

i remember doop on top of the pops, in fact one of the first times i watched totp with subtitles on (now a required condition in our household). those lyrics. oh dear.

frenchbloke, Thursday, 12 June 2003 13:56 (twenty-two years ago)

*weeps bitter tears* I will make it up to you by one day figuring out which Quickspace song that one track is.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 12 June 2003 14:00 (twenty-two years ago)

OK, you are forgiven. I keep looking at the titles of the threads and getting Revolution stuck in my head, but then it invariably turns into Not Right by the Stooges. Though I know that's not the song it's based on.

kate (kate), Thursday, 12 June 2003 14:02 (twenty-two years ago)

ahh!!!
watching TOTP with the subtitles is
the BEST THING EVER, especially if
your like me and generally dont listen
to lyrics. The sheer daftness of pop
songs spelt out by a zx spectrum...
oh and they put subtitles on eurovision
as well, with the lyrics translated!!
a few years ago there was this entry from
if i remember correctly israel, black
man and white woman singing this song
called 'coffee and cream', about how
he was the coffee and she was the cream,
and together they'd make a great dessert!!!

< pedant > BBC Model B, or technology compatible with. < / pedant >

Chriddof (Chriddof), Thursday, 12 June 2003 19:47 (twenty-two years ago)

nah, best if you have digital -

actually, totp should have mandatory subtitles. i remember shabba ranks being on once, and reel 2 reel and it was like," ah that's what they're singing!"

frenchbloke, Thursday, 12 June 2003 19:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Subtitles for Doop, though...

In the end, the song I had in my head all day was the theme to The People's Book Of Records, which I cannot remember the name of at all.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Thursday, 12 June 2003 20:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Their single "Ridin'" from 1996 kicked ass. I'm going to have to try to track it down after work.

blutroniq (blutroniq), Thursday, 12 June 2003 21:03 (twenty-two years ago)

so is the rest of the album any good then?
