psychotropic rock - who wins, YOU DECIDE

s.r.w. (s.r.w.), Thursday, 12 June 2003 13:46 (twenty-two years ago)

No Spacemen 3 without MC5, no question I listen to Spacemen 3 more. Hawkwind I'd have to relisten to to decide.

The MC5 are overrated. I'm having trouble choosing between Hawkwind and Spacemen 3 as that's far from my favourite S3 track. But you know, I'm going to have to go with Spacemen 3.

Tracer Hand, I love you!

(There are RAF squadrons flying constantly over HSA's mum's country house, but I've yet to hear a sonic boom)

That is my new wallpaper. If it doesn't appear on the cover of the next Sonic Boom solo album, I demand my money back!

mc5 win by a nose hair over hawkwind; i'm particularly fond of the _'66 breakout_ version of "black to comm" but the song conquers in almost all versions. it's very, very close though - "you shouldn't do that" is one of about 3 rock songs featuring saxophone in an actually interesting way, great vocals, great synth blips, great guitar... i don't know!

spacemen 3. heh, good one.

your null fame (yournullfame), Friday, 13 June 2003 02:59 (twenty-two years ago)

The Five by a landslide. Truth be told, i can't hear "Revolution" any longer without hearing the Mudhoney-ized lyrics in my head. The music is fine, but the lyrics are well...pants, at best.

Put the gun DOWN, Kate!

the lyrics of "revolution" are funnier in the s3 version than the mudhoney version. also : what your null fame said pretty much yeah

LOOK OUT! I'm a weedy junkie!

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 13 June 2003 05:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Me and a friend used to listen to Spacemen 3 a lot and always found that bit pretty funny.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 13 June 2003 05:41 (twenty-two years ago)

The lyrics to Revolution are the main reason that I'm not that fond of it. Whoreton said that the original live version they used to do was a lot better, a lot *angrier*, rather than the weedy junkie mewl on the album.

I think the Mudhoney version is very funny, actually. But then you listen to the beautiful thing that Sonic did with "When Tomorrow Hits" and I bet they feel like weedy jerks for taking the piss.

kate (kate), Friday, 13 June 2003 08:00 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah but LOOK OUT! anyway.
