On thee way home tonight, I decided I wanted to buy some rekkids, so I st0pped @ Gateshead metro-centre, meaning to buy either a/new broadcast rekkid or b/the human league presents the golden hour of the future. The only shop worth bothering w/in g/head metro centre is HMV - thee other 2 are like one of those rubbish new virgin stores, or something even worse, if that's possible. So, I parked near where HMV is, and in i went. As i got close to hmv, i see this small crowd ov people in thee doorway, my ph34r is that there's some kind ov event going on and i won't be able to get in. but all there was was this group of 4 group ov fairly attractive-ish young women, a couple ov minders who looked like buildings on legs, and a few barely interested geordie teenz. Thee wimmin were dressed all alike, in cheerleaderish clothes, but less the pom-poms, I figured they must be a new girl-group, and I wondered if I've heard of them. Once inside the shop, I decided to get both rekkids, and browse a bit as well. They were playing this really cheezy trance thing w/girl vox, and shit loads of roland jp8000 "super saw" abuse. It's pretty manky, and I usually like such stuff. I dunno if this was the girl group or not tho'. When I went to the counter, I saw the first mention of the signing that i'd seen there so far (IE there were no posters or anything). The group is aparently called lemonescent, and they'd been there since 5.30pm (when i paid for the rekkids, it was nearly 7pm) I glanced at them on the way out of HMV, and I'm afraid I did notice that the counter staff at hmv were better looking than lemonescent, though they weren't bad-looking for all that. I went to w h smith to see if thee new sound on sound was out (it wasn't), and on the way back, they were still there!! I took a good look at them, so that if they made it, i could say that i saw them (i am sad) and i noticed that a couple of them looked a bit shagged-out, and that they looked like they'd been wearing make-up a bit too much. One of them (the dark haired one) caught my eye. blimey!! She said "hellooo" in this cheery voice, so i smiled at her. I would have gone up to them and said something, but i couldn't think of what i could have said to her, besides, one look at the bearded freak, trousers splattered w/paint, shirt stained w/bicycle oil, & smelling of wd-40 approachig their proteges, and the security would have had me in a head-lock double-quick, and QUITE RIGHT TOO. So I went home instead.
On the way home i thought about lemonescent, standing their, working their record in gateshead metro-centre, standing in the doorway of a shop where the staff were too lazy, or poss. too "cool" to even stick up a couple of posters, or do anything other than place a little pile of leaflets on the counter. Not many people seemed that interested in them really. It was a bit sad, and I felt sorry for them. I hope their record is a hit.

that is a damn fine Greggs.
The Metro centre HMV needs a bigger vinyl and book area though.
Cramlington needs a record store.
