Check this new band from LA: Ima Robot [they are signed to Virgin in the US] and they are going to be massive !

Fan site for: Ima Robot
[check the demos section, to listen to the forthcoming single]: (12= 3) Here comes the Doctors.

This track is very addictive/ infectious, 3 minutes 11 seconds of pure art pop genius, it grooves, it twists, sublime bass lines, vocals are quirky like Xiu Xiu, the hooks hit hard, the tempos change, this has HIT written all over it - these guys have TALENT !

Ima Robot, mix the sound inspirations from: Pil/ Devo/ The Cure/ Sparks/ The Virgin Prunes/ B52s/ Adam Ant.

Curt (cgould), Friday, 13 June 2003 22:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Not sure if one would include Haircut 100 say, in this sort of genre confine, but if so: much of "Pelican West".

If Hall and Oates are generically fair game, how about the infectious, propelling piano spiral of "Kiss is on my list"?

moley, Friday, 14 November 2008 02:15 (sixteen years ago)

Wow, that's a really cool song! I love the way it straddles the line between being commercial and poppy vs. quirky and offbeat. Shit, I'll have to get more of this band. I'm not familiar with them.

Geir Hongro, Wednesday, 26 November 2008 11:00 (sixteen years ago)

Coup by 23 Skidoo. People tend to assume its a mix of Chemical Bros block rockin beats.

Dr X O'Skeleton, Wednesday, 26 November 2008 12:49 (sixteen years ago)

Delighted you picked up on Deckchairs bimble!

moley, Thursday, 27 November 2008 22:32 (sixteen years ago)

Perhaps, in a post Killers world, this one doesn't sound quite as dated as it did a few years ago - but it was always a nice tune and a heartfelt lyric, and very, very new wave and danceable if you liked that kind of jerky, stiff dance...

MEO 245 - Other Places

Yeah, I too only found out it was Plastic Betrand a few years ago, as a kid I just loved it as "the Asterix theme". (The song was written by Vladimir Cosma, the guy who did scores for many of the Asterix animated movies, but they got PB to sing it.)
