SCTV version of Money (That's What I Want)

I'm hoping someone here can help me with this. For some reason these past few days the song Money (That's What I Want) has been running thru my head, and it's not the Motown version, or the Beatles, but the one they used on SCTV for...awww man, i can't recall the name of the skit now, but it was a semi new wave (i guess?) version of it. If anybody has any ideas, please, let 'em loose.

Ah, SCTV. They used the music of their era so well, but ironically that may prevent the show from being seen in the future: every so often I'll hear that they're getting ready to release the old episodes on video/DVD/pick yr format, but apparently they failed to clear the songs they used and now everybody's lawyer wants a cut. It remains in syndication limbo for just that reason...

But, getting back to your question, Phil: I can't remember the episode/scene where they used "Money" -- was it one of the Gerry Todd video shows? (The lounge versions they did of the Police and the Vapors are endlessly great.)

I love the way they used the intro from Disco Merman in a bunch of sketches.

I found it, it's by The Leaping Lizards!! Ha, the name was 2 Money Talks w/Brian Johns played by Eugene Levy. And you're right about the music holding up it being released on DVD, i've heard that over and over again as well. Wish i would have taped the whole run when they were showing it on NBC...oh well...

Make Canadian friends. It airs aboot 8 times a day here.

I saw an episode with Rick Moranis as David Brinkley complaining aboot getting kicked around by slamdancing punks at CBGBs and how it hampered his enjoyment of the show, and that's all I could think of when they announced Brinkley died last week.

It's been replaced at 8 in the morning by Bosom Buddies.
