Dud...with the exception of threads that come up thousands of times (i.e. "Best of 200_," "I love the Smiths and/or New Order," "Rock sux, rap rulz," etc.)

Andrew Frye (paul cox), Tuesday, 17 June 2003 03:56 (twenty-two years ago)

why the psudeonym?

the archives are there for the same reason you don't throw out the old books when someone writes a new one on the same topic

jess (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 17 June 2003 03:58 (twenty-two years ago)

classic when handled politely

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Tuesday, 17 June 2003 04:06 (twenty-two years ago)

classic: this place is enough of a sprawling mess as it is

oops (Oops), Tuesday, 17 June 2003 04:09 (twenty-two years ago)

why the psudeonym?

I was bored, so I decided to recreate my ILm identity and hopefully take on newer and nicer traits in the process, but apparently the truth is out there.

Andrew Frye (paul cox), Tuesday, 17 June 2003 04:13 (twenty-two years ago)

classic

James Blount (James Blount), Tuesday, 17 June 2003 04:59 (twenty-two years ago)

it's like when you insert a fish hook into yr navel, you hope yr lover will deal sanely and pleasurably but maybe they will lose it during throes of whatevah and turn yr entire colon and guts insides out and THAT'S GOOD TOO!!

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 17 June 2003 08:44 (twenty-two years ago)

uh, hanle y?

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 17 June 2003 08:46 (twenty-two years ago)

There's already a thread for this

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 17 June 2003 11:26 (twenty-two years ago)

classic, esp. on RFI threads. Sometimes it is good to revisit a topic in a new thread with references to older ones.

Jon Williams (ex machina), Tuesday, 17 June 2003 11:38 (twenty-two years ago)

dud if you post a thread that queries the subject matter differently, i.e Songs that sound like this song was a post and the response was "dont know the song, but the guitar was given a once over here(link)". thanks for nothing asshole.

thomas de'aguirre (biteylove), Tuesday, 17 June 2003 16:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Do you hate all links on the web?

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 17 June 2003 22:47 (twenty-two years ago)

my compiler personality says "classic!"
my chaotic-neutral assassin personality, however, says "whatever."

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 17 June 2003 22:53 (twenty-two years ago)

it would be classic if i knew how to link but my skills are weak

bob snoom, Thursday, 19 June 2003 10:20 (twenty-two years ago)

bob, with ILE you can cheat with the HTML. Just posting the address will automatically make blue writing (as long as you include the http:// bit). And if you post the address of an ILX thread, then it's even smarter, as it turns it into a link with the title of the thread replacing the URL.

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 19 June 2003 11:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Wow. I never knew that. All these months I've been typing < a href=..... > and it's all been a lie...

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Thursday, 19 June 2003 11:31 (twenty-two years ago)

nope still can't do it. i think it's all those fishing weights i used to swallow as a child

bob snoom, Thursday, 19 June 2003 11:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Bob:

1. When you are in the thread you want to link to, go to the address bar, select it all with your mouse, then do Ctrl+C (or Apple+C on a Mac). This copies it to the clipboard.

2. When you are in the thread you want to post the link to, and your cursor is in the 'contribute an an answer' message box, do Ctrl+V (or Apple+V on a Mac). This pastes from the clipboard into the box.

3. Click submit.

bob snoom, Thursday, 19 June 2003 12:42 (twenty-two years ago)

holy crap!

bob snoom, Thursday, 19 June 2003 12:43 (twenty-two years ago)

*crossly tidies up dozens of regurgitated fishing weights*

mark s (mark s), Thursday, 19 June 2003 12:44 (twenty-two years ago)

it's hardly ever mean spirited.

ignore the issue of whether there should or should not be multiple threads on a given topic. once there are, isn't it good to have them linked together?

i think people might assume the worst when they see someone linking old threads, because in other places (such as metafilter) people ARE dicks about it.

ron (ron), Friday, 20 June 2003 00:45 (twenty-two years ago)

mark did you see "the isle" recently?

as for the thread topic: classic, without doubt.
