My college radio show is shambolic, and possibly the radio station is about to be shut down by the authorities. I can't mix, and I have too short attention span to keep a dance floor happy.
So I'm thinking it would be fun to try to DJ some blend of interesting electronica and world music in a few local bars. (Ok, so I admit, this is also Claude Challe envy ;-)
At the moment I'm just experimenting, mixing a few short sequences of things I like together to see how they sound. And I'm uploading them to my site for a short time.
Mauve Mix (World, hip-hop)
White Mix (Etherial, electronica)
I'll do a couple more later ...
So, three games in one post :
a) hope you enjoy them. Comments are welcome.
b) name those tunes. Not really a challange for trainspotters, just I want to get a feel for how well known / tired these tracks are.
and
c) comments on suitability for bars. Is this sort of stuff too subtle / intrusive / melancholic / boring / weird?

So basically you're saying "I want to look cool and score dates and sex and not have to work hard for it"? Congratulations! You're already a DJ!

Has everyone who wants downloaded these now? I'm gonna have to clear them off my account in the next couple of days.

four years pass...
thirteen years pass...
Poor Phil. I used to DJ stuff like this in a Buddha Bar/18th Street Lounge knockoff in the 90s. I actually would have listened to Phil's mixes had I seen this thread.
