Jet Boy Jet Girl and Ca Plane Pour Moi.

Which was done first, and what's the meaning of Ca Plane Pour Moi and how does Jet Boy Jet Girl relate to it? Is JBJG simply a cover?

Thanks,

Davlo

ca plane pour moi was first. the damned covered it with capt. sensible taking liberty with the lyrics.

ca plane pour moi means "this life's for me"

I always thought it was "Jeff Boy Jeff Girl," since I only heard it on the radio.

".... the damned covered it with capt. sensible taking liberty with the lyrics"

Actually it's not at all clear which version came first. The music was written by a guy called Elton Motello who, prior to hooking up with Plastic Bertrand, had been a member of a band called Bastard with Brian James (later of The Damned). He subsequently joined another band called The Softies and it was at this time that he wrote the "Jet Boy Jet Girl" lyrics.

The Softies were briefly joined by Captain Sensible (during The Damned's 1978 hiatus) and recorded Jet Boy Jet Girl as a single. The Captain also recorded the song for a John Peel session with his next band, King.

The version of Jet Boy Jet Girl originally found on the 'B' side of The Damned's single Wait For The Blackout (and subsequently on innumerabke Damned comp.s) is not, in fact, by The Damned at all but is the version from the Captain Sensible And The Softies single.

After the success of Ca Plane Pour Moi, Elton Motello also released Jet Boy Jet Girl as a single himself (with a backing band that included Twink and Brian James) in a picture sleeve that calls it "the original English title for Ca Plane Pour Moi....

Oh sorry, missed ".... and what's the meaning of Ca Plane Pour Moi"

Literally "that glides for me"; could be taken to mean something relatively innocuous like "that's cool with me" but is / was also apparently a drug-culture expression meaning something more like "that gets me high".

I *KNEW* there was something deeply mysterious about this! Thanks for clearing things up - somewhat.

I know far, far more meaningless trivia about The Damned and everything related to them than can possibly be considered healthy.

For what it's worth, I had the Elton Motello single some 6 months before Plastic Bertrand's single was a hit here.
