I will forever associate Our Thing with Phil Spector's girl-group productions, need I even say why?

I've always thought of Frank Sinatra as "Mafia Music".

Me, too. I can't hear "My Kind of Town" without thinking of Sam Giancana.

Or subway buskers playing the theme from The Godfather, over and over.

Someone is going to sell this as 'the original gangsta rap', you just know it...

Since these guys are likely kind of old, I was thinking it would make a good film for the NPR demographic. You know - "Malavita Social Club".

I really like how they tout its chart success in the Netherlands as a majour selling point. Those Dutch, they really know their traditional southern Italian music. Not only that, but it peaked at #24 after three weeks.

Regardless, I went and listened to the sound clips... the production is pretty basic, but the music is decently-rendered. Italians have this thing for lots of reverb on vocals, though, that will not die, no matter what kind of music in question is. Dean Martin's echo-drenched cantations, anyone?

(My mother, who is responsible for the Italian half of my heritage, claims that Italians have an integral bent towards the melodramatic which comes as a psychological 'bonus' with the culture, and that the vocal stylings/reverb are directly attributable to this fact. I buy it.)
