anyone with the name Party Fun Action Committee can't be THAT bad...can they?

stevem (blueski), Friday, 20 June 2003 09:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Unless the action they are taking is to eradicate all party fun ever.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Friday, 20 June 2003 09:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Despite this being a Def Jux album, apparently it is not.

Thank you for alerting me to the fact that it is out somewhere. This is, what, the third rap parody album to come out in six months?

¿You mean the two 50 Cent releases right?

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Friday, 20 June 2003 13:40 (twenty-two years ago)

This is insane. I don't know if I could listen to this more than once every four months. It's ridiculous as fuck. It's also sort of funny to an extent, though it's a somewhat irritating sort of funny.

Nate Patrin (Nate Patrin), Saturday, 21 June 2003 01:26 (twenty-two years ago)

More annoying than MC Paul Barman?

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Saturday, 21 June 2003 02:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Much more.

Nate Patrin (Nate Patrin), Saturday, 21 June 2003 02:26 (twenty-two years ago)

In fact, they actually parody MC Paul Barman.

Nate Patrin (Nate Patrin), Saturday, 21 June 2003 02:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh god, there's a fucking electroclash parody on here too. ow ow ow ow ow

Nate Patrin (Nate Patrin), Saturday, 21 June 2003 02:33 (twenty-two years ago)

it's like el is intentioanlly trying to sabotage his label's reputation, between this and the Smash Brothers. Maybe Bazooka Tooth will redeem / time will tell

roger adultery (roger adultery), Saturday, 21 June 2003 03:32 (twenty-two years ago)

I liked "Illy" but I haven't heard the rest of the album. What's bad about it (he asks the man with the furious anti-Beastie vendetta)?

Nate Patrin (Nate Patrin), Saturday, 21 June 2003 03:58 (twenty-two years ago)

hahahah. it's just a 'joke album' in the grand tradition of other joke albums, none of which are worth the incresingly absurd costs of manufacturing a CD. It's arrogance, really.

Anyway, I think El was concerned that people were taking his shit a little too seriously (recall the "motherfucker do I SOUND abstract??" line from FanDam) so he opted to put out this hideous 'joke' album (which mixes sub Mr Bungle humor with beats that sound like they were made by an intern) and the 'girls and guns' themed album by the very-close-to-jiggy Smash Bros. THAT'LL show 'em, El.

Like i said, though, the new Aesop, from what I've heard, will set things straight.
