Can we please petition to get the Soulseek Wishlist back to it's former self?

Searching for shit has become a serious pain in the ass. I'll manually search something that's already in my wishlist and suddenly, there it is, NO thanks to the wishlist. I loved waking up and seeing dozens of coveted tracks ready to be downloaded, and now, i'm discouraged. Not that Soulseek isn't by far the best P2P system, but still - who do we ask about re-implementing the wishlist as it was before?

I'm confused by the wishlist. Is it programmed to run every hour or something? And then, when it does, how does it get things that a normal search doesn't? When the wishlist comes up it usually immediately spouts a whole big long list of what one is looking for. Does that mean that it collects the information with an invisible search that's running in the background all the time and then only serves the results up at certain times?

Hey, I'd be happy with Soulseek so long as I didn't have to download a f***ing upgrade every month or so. Today's adventures in Soulseeking involved the fifth time I've had to download an upgrade since I've been using the program, and it's really gotten to be a pain. At least let those of us who like to use older versions of things (*ahem* says someone who still uses IE v5.1 and Win98) be able to keep on using them instead of popping us with the "Your version of the client is obsolete" business. YOU HEAR THAT, SOULSEEK? HUH? HUH?

well, my wishlist was poppin' last night - everytime i'd switch to another window it'd go "BLING" and there would be whatever i was looking for.

The reason it forces updates is because your client processes search terms for other clients. Its a distributed network and if you want to use it, you have to provide your share of the computing.

oh, for the old soulseek days, none of this rooms business either - just one big insane chat window and when everyone in the uk was still on dial-up . . .

it really is a joke this whole slsk business. having to click on my desktop symbol just to get it to start up is such a fucking hassle, i sometimes wonder whether the access to endless amounts of free music is really worth it

There's a reason that the wishlist function doesn't update as often as it used to do - the constant searching apparently was an exponentially growing burden on the network, so the frequency was greatly reduced in later versions (and that's one of the reasons why the older clients were made to stop working).
