I mean, besides the obvious.

Someone shed light.

gage o (gage o), Monday, 23 June 2003 14:26 (twenty-two years ago)

too much time on yr hands?

jess (dubplatestyle), Monday, 23 June 2003 14:32 (twenty-two years ago)

yes!

now shed some light, anybody!

gage o (gage o), Monday, 23 June 2003 14:33 (twenty-two years ago)

its not actually that bad a hit she had, just gets cloying after a while. she got a nice face though, and the glasses thing is sorta cool.

Bob Shaw (Bob Shaw), Monday, 23 June 2003 14:33 (twenty-two years ago)

i like that part in the hit when she gets all in a tiz. plus the nana mouskouri thing probably unnerves you.

doom-e, Monday, 23 June 2003 14:35 (twenty-two years ago)

What is she doing to inspire such hatred? Does she even have a record deal anymore? It's like saying "BOY OH BOY, DO I EVER HATE HEATHER NOVA!" or something.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 23 June 2003 15:36 (twenty-two years ago)

she was hawt

stevem (blueski), Monday, 23 June 2003 16:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Is she uprooting yr flower bed?

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Monday, 23 June 2003 16:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Defiling Your Mailbox?

Charles McCain (Charles McCain), Monday, 23 June 2003 17:27 (twenty-two years ago)

rubbing in your rhubarb?

Kingfish (Kingfish), Monday, 23 June 2003 17:30 (twenty-two years ago)

while i consider her infinitely hot/adorable, i could understand why her cat-eye glasses and high pitched petite voice could come off as rather smarmy. plus in the song "stay" (which i actually love) the lyrics are sorta spoken/sung and when artists do that they're really putting themselves out on a limb, because pulling it off well requires a certain level of confidence. a lot of people are put off by that much confidence out of certain artists. for instance, i can't stand it when debbie harry raps

Felcher (Felcher), Monday, 23 June 2003 17:34 (twenty-two years ago)

that is because debbie harry cannot rap.

I think she is too adorable to be hated.

Mike Taylor (mjt), Monday, 23 June 2003 19:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Does Debbie Harry still rap?
Or does she just stand outside yr window at night when y're trying to sleep doing "The Ketchup Song?"

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Monday, 23 June 2003 19:15 (twenty-two years ago)

because self-consciously cute people are really hard to take.

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 23 June 2003 19:19 (twenty-two years ago)

well, for me they are. ymmv.

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 23 June 2003 19:20 (twenty-two years ago)

she is still around, she opened for the Goo Goo Dolls when they played my uni earlier this year. don't ask i didn't go.

Dave M. (rotten03), Monday, 23 June 2003 19:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Alex in NYC in decrying-undeserved-bile shocker!

Al (sitcom), Monday, 23 June 2003 19:42 (twenty-two years ago)

because Dashboard Confessional reminds you of her so much.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 23 June 2003 19:49 (twenty-two years ago)

thats it, death by flamethrower for the whole lot!

Mike Taylor (mjt), Monday, 23 June 2003 19:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Lisa and Dweezl are getting their own cable TV show. I think it's like a music version of Jon Favreau's show.

Charles McCain (Charles McCain), Monday, 23 June 2003 20:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Alex in NYC in decrying-undeserved-bile shocker!

Haha I was thinking the same thing..."It might be like really hating Heather Nova...or like hating Good Charlotte!"

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 23 June 2003 20:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Hating Good Charlotte is completely justified, as they are seemingly ubiquotous at the moment, whereas I can't recall the last time I saw/heard from Ms.Loeb.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 23 June 2003 20:11 (twenty-two years ago)

this thread has gone on too long without some image leeching:

Kingfish (Kingfish), Monday, 23 June 2003 20:26 (twenty-two years ago)

What was up with that album she did where she was like being all suggestive with ice cream on the cover? Am I confusing her with Gina G?

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 23 June 2003 20:38 (twenty-two years ago)

It's funny how the "Reality Bites" poster is immediately recognizable in the corner of that cover, even though it's just an eensy teensy speck on the screen. (And I didn't even know/forgot that the song was in that movie. I just remember the very awkward video.)

Sam J. (samjeff), Monday, 23 June 2003 20:40 (twenty-two years ago)

The cat's-eye glasses aren't as cute as I remember.

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Monday, 23 June 2003 20:59 (twenty-two years ago)

and you say...I should be nostalgiac for the nineties...but I see Lisa Loeb and I think of "My So-Called Life" and realize I don't don't don't wanna go back!

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 23 June 2003 21:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Kingfish (Kingfish), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 03:27 (twenty-two years ago)

is that the Black Rebel Motorcycle dude on the left?

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 03:30 (twenty-two years ago)

that middle picture could not be more classic

Aaron A., Tuesday, 24 June 2003 03:30 (twenty-two years ago)

DWEEZIL!

Al (sitcom), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 03:45 (twenty-two years ago)

haha. dweezil in big giant black dick shocka!

Bob Shaw (Bob Shaw), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 07:11 (twenty-two years ago)

I went to high school with a girl who was her publicist for a while. Purportedly, there's no actual glass in those glasses (or they're simply plain, translucent glass).

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 12:21 (twenty-two years ago)

That pisses me off. You don't see me taking up using a walker for fun.

FYI I hate Lisa Loeb cos I get told I look like her, or I did when she was actually vaguely famous, solely on the basis that I wear glasses. It's like, wtf, no one says, "Oh you look exactly like Laeticia Casta" on the basis of us both having breasts.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 12:32 (twenty-two years ago)

It's like, wtf, no one says, "Oh you look exactly like Laeticia Casta" on the basis of us both having breasts

You said it, not me. I'm only the Image Leech, here to provide a Valuable Public Service, wot wot.

For comparision:
http://www.chuckgoodenough.com/laeticia.jpg VS http://www.msgeek.com/lc/tl-look/lisa08.jpg

Laeticia armed with her breasts, Lisa armed with a Big Black Rubber Cock!

FITE.

Kingfish (Kingfish), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 12:59 (twenty-two years ago)

haha, yeah i'll admit that picture is too classic, its getting saved, and brought out at every possible occassion in the future. its like saddamn in southpark with the big plastic dicks.

Bob Shaw (Bob Shaw), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 13:02 (twenty-two years ago)

and the funniest thing is Dweezil's expression--either he's getting turned on by this or he finds it all fucking hilarious.

Maybe he's pressing his Zappa manhood into her thigh on national television, which may be why she looks like she's trying not to laugh.

Kingfish (Kingfish), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 13:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Sometimes I find it hard to hate on Ivy musicians (she went to Brown).

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 14:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Did she? I thought she went to Yale with Duncan Shiek.

I've got two reasons to hate her:
She's the epitome of WASP-pop
She released the same fucking album twice: Cake and Pie and Hello Lisa are the same record. She apparently told fans not to buy one of them if they already owned the first, knowing full well that die-hard fans will buy the second one because it's got extra songs.

Catty (Catty), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 15:11 (twenty-two years ago)

i think we're all just jealous that she got dweezil and we didn't

Bob Shaw (Bob Shaw), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 15:29 (twenty-two years ago)

i mean look at the size of that thing!

Bob Shaw (Bob Shaw), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 15:31 (twenty-two years ago)

http://www.galleryofsound.com/dbimages/editorial/0402/lisaloeb_0402.jpg

Prescription or no? I was under the impression that plain glass does not distort the persons face while prescription glass does indeed distort. In the above pic the left side of her face appears "moved over" due to the distortion.

sherlock kansas (lawrence kansas), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 15:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Hmmmm. Well spotted. I'll have to address this with Kaja (her old publicist).

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 16:21 (twenty-two years ago)

#1. The photo - I cant make out the rubber penis. I see a mic. Maybe if I cross my eyes like one of those 3D trick pictures?
#2. Her music is extremely boring.
#3. God I want to fuck her.
