This was INSANELY tough for me. Especially cuz it forced me to admit how good a song from the Brian Johnson-era was (Van Hagar's "Finish What You Started" would have a similar effect).

You Shook Me All Night Long
Rock And Roll Singer
It's A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock'n'Roll) [with Bon on bagpipes! is there a video out there of this?]
What's Next To The Moon
Problem Child
TNT
Girls Got Rhythm
Whole Lotta Rosie
The Jack [the card-game metaphor version on High Voltage, not the less impressive If You Want Blood... take]
Ride On

30% of my picks celebrate women capable of providing sexual satisfaction.
20% of my picks celebrate Bon Scott.
20% of my picks celebrate Bon Scott's career ambitions.30% of my picks declare that Bon Scott has been heartbroken, given V.D., and he doesn't take either very well.

I love AC/DC.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 23 June 2003 22:35 (twenty-two years ago)

actually. In "Ride On" he takes heartbreak fine, but in "What's Next To The Moon" he gets her run over by a train. Basically sometime between "Let There Be Rock" and "Powerage" Scott became a little less cavalier about his less-than-happy experiences with women.

There is a vid of "Long Way...", the band are on the back of a truck going down a city street. But I can't remember if Bon plays bagpipes in the clip. Curses!

Hayden Nicholls (Pop the Weasel), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 03:28 (twenty-two years ago)

whole lotta rosie!

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 03:30 (twenty-two years ago)

i haven't seen the video for "long way to the top" with the truck but i've for sure seen one where he plays the bagpipes

unknown or illegal user (doorag), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 04:06 (twenty-two years ago)

i won't post my 10 here 'cause it'd be too similar to anthony's. actually i guess you could say anyone's ACDC POX would be pretty similar to anyone else's ha ha

duane (doorag), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 04:08 (twenty-two years ago)

duane (doorag), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 04:09 (twenty-two years ago)

1. Overdose (greatest Space Rock tune ever)
2. Problem Child (greatest Punk Rock tune ever)
3. Whole Lotta Rosie (greatest tune that Guns N' Roses ever covered)
4. There's Gonna Be Some Rockin' (greatest Boogie Rock tune ever)
5. If You Want Blood (You've Got It) (greatest tune that I blew out my friend Tom's speakers with back in high school)
6. Can I Sit Next to You Girl (greatest Glam Rock tune ever)
7. Riff Raff (greatest NWOBHM tune ever)
8. Ride On (greatest Blues Rock tune ever)
9. Shoot to Thrill (token cut with the new guy on it)
10. Carry Me Home (token collector nerd reference; also, a song about alcohol - an anomaly in the ac/dc catalog)

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 04:31 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm frankly appalled that no-one has mentioned Let There Be Rock.

colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 05:42 (twenty-two years ago)

ac/dc are the most ultimate sex band ever. there are too many to pick here, but you shouldnt ignore the brian johnson era, i mean back in black is possibly even more classic than the bon scott stuff (although a fair amount of the stuff since is a bit meh, but i dont think that can be pinned on him)
top 5 in no particular order:

1) ride on (only recently picked up dirty deeds, lovin it!)
2) let me put my love into you
3) back in black
4) you shook me all night long (if you've never danced in your boxers to this, then you aint lived)
5) highway to hell (same applies here)
6) problem child
7) big balls
8) if you want blood you got it
9) what's next to the moon
10) down payment blues

Bob Shaw (Bob Shaw), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 07:34 (twenty-two years ago)

It would be hard for me to do this without picking all of the songs from "Let There Be Rock" (IMO one of the best records ever made)

Charles McCain (Charles McCain), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 15:59 (twenty-two years ago)

I think this thread gets the award for "Most Difficult to Answer."

Jeanne Fury (Jeanne Fury), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 16:06 (twenty-two years ago)

"Let There Be Deaf Babies"

TMFTML (TMFTML), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 16:12 (twenty-two years ago)

it was SO difficult to answer I was debating starting the POX without actually submitting one. "Rock And Roll Damnation," "Let There Be Rock," "If You Want Blood," "Down Payment Blues," "Back In Black" and "Thunderstruck" were all songs that almost made my list. Oh, and "Love Hungry Man," which didn't get on it because Bon says he wants no conversation (can't agree with him there).

Though I can think up way better albums, there is NO band I like more right now than the Bon Scott-era AC/DC. My problem with Johnson is that though he has more range (could Scott have even attempted Shook Me All Night Long?), it's just nowhere as fun, it's like Johnson KNEW Angus was more important, where Bon showed no such humility.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 20:06 (twenty-two years ago)

oh, and I'd pay big money for a Scott-era video collection. Only video I've seen is "Jailbreak" (and I still need to buy that EP).

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 20:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Is there a definitive AC/DC vids collection? They have at least three DVDs out, it seems, but it's all live stuff, no?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 20:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Bingo. Johnson is a likeable lad, but Scott is cheeky. And he's an ugly, scrawny, sexy man, and an inspiration for all such men everywhere. That look in his eyes!

colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 21:42 (twenty-two years ago)

six months pass...
AC/DC ARE THE TOUGHSET BALL OUT BAND WITH MEAN DIRTY RIFFS AND LYRICS THAT MAKE YOU WANT TO FUCK OR FIGHT.ALL HAIL THE RYTHYM KING MALCOLM YOUNG

MALCOLM, Sunday, 18 January 2004 01:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Ner ner ner.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 18 January 2004 01:47 (twenty-two years ago)

I think this thread has been re-done since it was first started, without crediting the original thread. Poor thread. *hug*

Anyway, on to business.

1. "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap"

For the silliest list of ways to kill someone ever. Concrete shoes. Cyanide. TNT. Neckties. Contracts. High Voltage. Wait a minute... neckties? Also -- great little groans by Bon. Also -- fucking rocks.

About 10 other songs are tied for second place.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Sunday, 18 January 2004 07:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Neckties strangle, dude! And the best part of that song is the third verse, where he announes that not only will he take your virginity cheap or be your rebound fuck, but he'll even be a guy's "back door man"! Possibly the best ho song ever.
