RFI - "satisfaction" - electro-wotsit song

Someone played me this amazing record the other day, by some artist called either Benny _____ or Ben E _____. the surname was something european, "Verkassen"??? Something like that.

There were two tunes - one was called "Satisfaction" and is, I think, the better known one. The other I can't remember what it was called. They both had twisty, odd basslines as their basis with off-kilter tinkly melodies and vocals constructed out of odd snippets. It was like the bastard child of Todd Edwards and Chris Lum or something. Basically great.

Anyone know who the artist is? Where he's from? How old the tunes are?

It's an italian producer called Benny Benassi.
Huge hit here in France, don't like it at all though.

Satisfaction is amazing, it's about six months old as a club tune, but it's now doing the rounds in the euro charts. The second single Able To Love and his remixes for Tomcraft and In-Grid are good too. The Hypnotica album is a bit same-y though - at the moment he's milking the Satisfaction sound for all it's worth.

Coo. Am getting the mp3 now.

Am dead excited now I know he's italian - it's about time italo producers started doing exciting things again.

FYI that Benni Benassi track is also on the Muzik Erol Alker mix CD - the acapella is put over the dub mix of 'Train' by Goldfrapp

I really like this record, the more I listen to it. It's like IDM, if IDM was any good.

It's also like updated italo-disco which can't be bad either, but the good early-80s stuff, not the hi-nrg dross...
