clairecords' reign of terr- er i mean 'insane quality' continues unabated. greatest label in the world right now.

Do tell... Who else is on this sainted label? SHould they have more than a passing resemblance to Paik (Kinski, Surface of Eceon, etc.), I suspect I will thrive on it.

clairecords is the world's premier label for music of a shoegazing bent.

their bands include: isobella, astrobrite, mahogany, condolore, monster movie (ex-slowdive), malory (*swoon!*), pia fraus, stella luna, mean red spiders, airiel and highspire. their releases tend to be at the significantly less-gothy more-poppy end of the s'gaze spectrum (cf. Projekt).

The Orson Fader is one of my fave releases of the year by far. Utterly fantastic album.

i don't know if jim is recommending all of those clair bands but most of them are dud especially astrobrite, monster movie, mean red spiders, isobella and even con dolore only has a few hits really. clair is a better mail order than label. malory, pia fraus, airiel and mahogany are all fantastic. mahogany is on darla now.

I like Astrobrite a lot, actually. Probably the best MBV clone out there.

Quite right, etc. Reminds me I need to finally actually buy the Paik album. Keith is wrong in that most are not dud. ;-)

I saw them live and was underwhelmed; the drumming seemed stiff and unnecessarily muscular for what was going on around it. (Cue: "This from a Mogwai fan?!") Windy and Carl blew 'em away, although I guess that's not saying too too much. ;-) I'm curious to hear the album, though.

Weird, Clarke, must have been an off night -- at Terrastock 5 they were monstrously good.
