SOULSEEK - a dumb question

hey guys - pardon my computer ignorance, but i have a question about slsk. you see, my roadrunner connection has been down for a week, so i've been using dial up on my laptop. Ifi were to download some stuff from slsk on my laptop, any way I can transfer those files to my PC to burn them to CD? How do I transfer them? Like a Word document? A floppy doesn't seem right - is that what I use? HELP!!!

the best advice i could offer would be an external zip drive that you could switch b/w computers. it's be time consuming, but if you like the songs enough, worth it.

ROGER ADULTRY DO BOTH PCs HAVE USB INPUTS

IF TRUE THEN RUN A USB CABLE BETWEEN THE TWO COMPUTERS

gygax you meanie

roger, best option would be to connect your laptop to your PC either via network/ethernet connection or parallel link cable. unfortunately, dont know much about that - find a techie friend!

its unlikely the files you download will fit on a floppy. perhaps you could obtain a SCSI ZIP drive from somewhere, connect it to your laptop and transfer the files onto a ZIP disk? you would then need to connect the ZIP drive to your PC tho i guess - too much hassle!

without compressing the files to a low enough level to fit on a disk (they'd have to be like 1 meg each and you'd have to transfer one file at a time) you may be stuck here

Hmmm. Thanks guys, I guess I'll just wait till Monday when Time Warner comes to fix the faulty 'signal' or whatever. the rest of this stuff is just waaaaay over my head.

I really liked that Shatner picture gygax! posted, so I went on the website it was lifted from. Very awful indeed.

This is a fucked-up way to do it but I connect my digital camera to my laptop, move the files into the camera, then reverse process to get them to another computer.

the smartest thing to do would be to not transfer the files from one computer to another. try to find an external cd burner and do it straight from the laptop.

or just wait till monday.
