trife (simon_tr), Tuesday, 1 July 2003 02:19 (twenty-two years ago)

american psycho.

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Tuesday, 1 July 2003 02:20 (twenty-two years ago)

i never saw american psycho!! i just got their greatest hits thing and i like it but the songs arent as poppy as i want them to be, its all so bleak!! i mean i love the petshop boys but they were on the farthest side of sad whiny synthpop til i heard this, also jeez watery sounding live drums wtf

trife (simon_tr), Tuesday, 1 July 2003 02:21 (twenty-two years ago)

ooh 'the beach' this is more like it

trife (simon_tr), Tuesday, 1 July 2003 02:22 (twenty-two years ago)

it's easier to find a rocking horse that craps than it is to find an 80s pop record with passable sounding drums

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Tuesday, 1 July 2003 02:23 (twenty-two years ago)

they knew keyboards but they did not know percussion once 1985 rolled around.

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Tuesday, 1 July 2003 02:23 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah i love 80s drum machines but this is inexcusable, it sounds like u2

trife (simon_tr), Tuesday, 1 July 2003 02:26 (twenty-two years ago)

also why are they playing the guitar! stop playing the guitar!!!!

trife (simon_tr), Tuesday, 1 July 2003 02:29 (twenty-two years ago)

It was on the soundtrack to Bright Lights, Big City...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 1 July 2003 02:33 (twenty-two years ago)

ned i have no clue what that was!! at first i thought it was in trainspotting but thats the other song, hey everybody tell me what your fav new order songs are and if theyre on my greatest hits ill listen to them and tell you what i think!!

trife (simon_tr), Tuesday, 1 July 2003 02:35 (twenty-two years ago)

'True Faith'! But also um, 'Age of Consent' maybe. And 'Fine Time'! Dunno if that was a single.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 1 July 2003 02:39 (twenty-two years ago)

neither of those are on my greatest hits!!! the first song is 'ceremony' it sounds like yo la tengo

trife (simon_tr), Tuesday, 1 July 2003 02:40 (twenty-two years ago)

"Age of Consent" or "Temptation"--"Ceremony" is good but pretty indie rock for New Order.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 1 July 2003 02:40 (twenty-two years ago)

My band used to cover that, I bet we sounded like YLT too. How about 'Bizarre Love Triangle'?

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 1 July 2003 02:41 (twenty-two years ago)

temptation is the one song i knew already cuz its the trainspotting song!! i like the singing more than the music though, i will listen to bizarre love triangle now

trife (simon_tr), Tuesday, 1 July 2003 02:42 (twenty-two years ago)

new order are kind of like the good modern english

trife (simon_tr), Tuesday, 1 July 2003 02:43 (twenty-two years ago)

that's the only one you already know? What about "Blue Monday", everyone knows that one.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 1 July 2003 02:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Temptation or Bizarre Love Triangle.

H (Heruy), Tuesday, 1 July 2003 02:44 (twenty-two years ago)

bizarre love triangle is crazy!! it sounds like wanksta combined with rednex

trife (simon_tr), Tuesday, 1 July 2003 02:46 (twenty-two years ago)

remind me which one is true faith
i know it well, but i just can't think of it at the moment
its wrecking my head

robin (robin), Tuesday, 1 July 2003 02:49 (twenty-two years ago)

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Tuesday, 1 July 2003 03:02 (twenty-two years ago)

J0hn Darn1elle (J0hn Darn1elle), Tuesday, 1 July 2003 03:20 (twenty-two years ago)

J0hn Darn1elle (J0hn Darn1elle), Tuesday, 1 July 2003 03:20 (twenty-two years ago)

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Tuesday, 1 July 2003 03:23 (twenty-two years ago)

(OK sorry sorry, I'm an asshole, feed the world love the children etc.)

J0hn Darn1elle (J0hn Darn1elle), Tuesday, 1 July 2003 03:25 (twenty-two years ago)

trife (simon_tr), Tuesday, 1 July 2003 03:40 (twenty-two years ago)

what is the chorus to true faith?

robin (robin), Tuesday, 1 July 2003 03:49 (twenty-two years ago)

i used to think that the day would never come
i'd see the light in the shade of the morning sun

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Tuesday, 1 July 2003 03:50 (twenty-two years ago)

my morning sun is the drug that brings me near
to the childhood i lost replaced by fear

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Tuesday, 1 July 2003 03:50 (twenty-two years ago)

my favs on that album:

age of consent, love vigilantes, run, touched by the hand of god

King Kobra (King Kobra), Tuesday, 1 July 2003 03:51 (twenty-two years ago)

trife, he based it on Devo! trife you need to see Bright Lights, Big City, which besides having a great soundtrack, has Michael J. Fox who also starred in Secret of My Success where he basically plays the same character, and that movie has "Oh Yeah" by Yello in it which was also featured in Ferris Bueller's Day Off, and you basically have the 80's right there.

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Tuesday, 1 July 2003 03:53 (twenty-two years ago)

i LOVE yello!!

trife (simon_tr), Tuesday, 1 July 2003 03:56 (twenty-two years ago)

nice one jim, that was really annoying me

robin (robin), Tuesday, 1 July 2003 04:10 (twenty-two years ago)

my fave is the b-side version of 1963 (it's on the substance comp)

g--ff c-nn-n (gcannon), Tuesday, 1 July 2003 04:34 (twenty-two years ago)

(the album versh on the best-of kinda sucks, sez I)

g--ff c-nn-n (gcannon), Tuesday, 1 July 2003 04:35 (twenty-two years ago)

i have 'substance' comp

trife (simon_tr), Tuesday, 1 July 2003 04:38 (twenty-two years ago)

True Faith for fun:

Dm-F-C-G, except for the "you took my time and you took my money" bit (I guess the pre-chorus), which is Bb-A

Samuel Bloch, Tuesday, 1 July 2003 04:59 (twenty-two years ago)

fun?!!

trife (simon_tr), Tuesday, 1 July 2003 05:17 (twenty-two years ago)

you can play chords on non-guitars too y'know

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Tuesday, 1 July 2003 05:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Never said it had to be guitar.

Samuel Bloch, Tuesday, 1 July 2003 05:27 (twenty-two years ago)

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Tuesday, 1 July 2003 05:28 (twenty-two years ago)

RIP too poetic

trife (simon_tr), Tuesday, 1 July 2003 06:22 (twenty-two years ago)

The Boo Radleys cover is funny. It's called Boo Faith.

kate (kate), Tuesday, 1 July 2003 07:13 (twenty-two years ago)

five years pass...

I honestly have never, ever had a particular appreciation for this song, despite them being my fave band. But right now it is really doing something for me it never has before.

I already told on another thread how sick and tired I am of 80's club DJ's playing Bizarre Love Triangle as if it's the only New Order song in the world. God, I hate it.
