Evanescence's "Bring Me to Life" the evil sibling of Natalie Imbruglia's "Torn"?

Seriously, the former just sort've sounds like a minor-key rendition of the latter (augmented by shouty nu metal bits). Listen again.

And if they're so damn evanescent, how come they haven't vanished yet?

Alex, what you really need to do is stop listening to the radio and watching MTV. It brings you pain. Only pain.

I actually heard the original version of "Torn" by Ednaswap the other day. It's a solid song, but it's not one I need to hear much. I DEFINITELY don't need to see Natalie Imbruglia ever again, so I'm disappointed she's evidently an "actress" too.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Tuesday, 1 July 2003 19:16 (twenty-two years ago)

i like that evanescence song. parts of it anyway. the imbruglia song was vaguely annoying if i recall. i think the evanescence lyrics are better.

amateurist (amateurist), Tuesday, 1 July 2003 19:18 (twenty-two years ago)

She was an actress before she was a singer.

Neither of these songs really bring me "pain," Anthony...but like you said, they're not songs I'd ever opt to hear repeatedly.

I DEFINITELY don't need to see Natalie Imbruglia ever again

you're nuts, Anthony! Natalie = k-rowr. so much so I nearly convinced myself to like "Torn."

(note I said NEARLY)

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 1 July 2003 21:38 (twenty-two years ago)

I actually hear a lot of "Torn" in the chorus of Black Eyed Peas' "Where is the Love?", especially the "practice what you preach" line.

You guys have the weirdest definitions of not thinking about things I've ever seen in my life.

Ally (mlescaut), Wednesday, 2 July 2003 01:47 (twenty-two years ago)

If anything, "Torn" is the evil sibling of "Bring Me to Life."

My name is Kenny (My name is Kenny), Wednesday, 2 July 2003 13:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Same difference, really.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Wednesday, 2 July 2003 13:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Natalie Imbruglia's apparently in the new "Johnny English" film (bad slapstick ripoff of "Austin Powers," seemingly from the ad, starring Rowan "Mr.Bean" Atkinson.)

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Wednesday, 2 July 2003 13:44 (twenty-two years ago)

one month passes...
Sorry guys, I'm a major Evanescence fan and can't wait till they play The Hammersmith on the 8th November and Natalie Imbruglia doesn't hold a candle to them although I confess to liking 'I'm Impressed' and Smoke!

Rachael, Thursday, 14 August 2003 08:28 (twenty-two years ago)

one minor detail about the "Johnny English" movie. The idea for "Johnny English" actually came from a series of Rowan Atkinson adverts that predate Austin Powers by a few years.
